Do ordinary people play?

Question: I'm pretty vanilla. I've only just got on to this “Master/slave” stuff. It seems a bit extreme and transgressive. What's the attraction? Do ordinary, normal people really get into this?

Answer: Consensual slavery is a mode of adult play in today's alternative adult culture. Yes, ordinary, 'normal' people play Master/slave games, businesspeople, educated professionals, teachers, doctors, lawyers, plumbers... you'd be surprised. Such people are not usually motivated by a desire to transgress or to offend society's rules. The attraction is that the Master/slave relationship allows the exploration of a wider range of erotic possibilities. The vanilla relationship with its emphasis on equality and partnership is great for certain things but to people given to dominant/submissive traits it can be stifling and can amount to a denial of their erotic nature. Consensual slavery supposes that some people are naturally dominant (Masters) and some are naturally submissive (slaves) and that both can find fulfilment in a proper, mature Master/slave relationship that is built upon consent and trust. Some people explore this on a part-time basis as a game or hobby while others take it more seriously and develop it into a lifestyle. How hardcore or how vanilla you make it is up to you.

Code d' odalisque is a specifically sexual style of slave play. The odalisque is a sexual slave, not a workslave and not a domestic slave. She is a bedroom slave who serves her Master's bed. People get into this style of play/lifestyle in order to explore a wider range of sexual desires and fantasies than is possible in a plain vanilla relationship. It is specifically heterosexual. It is for sexually submissive females and sexually dominant males. It offers them a framework in which they can explore their submissive/dominant natures subject to a Code of rules designed to ensure civil, legal, ethical, non-violent play that protects all parties at all times. It is a celebration of female beauty and phallic sexuality without sado-masochism. It combines an arena for hedonistic pleasures and hardcore sexual enjoyment in combination with grace, good-taste, etiquette and elegance. It is not for everyone, but today there is a growing community of “Code d'Oders” worldwide.
