Married Couples Owning Slaves (Repost)

It often happens that married couples play bedroom slave games, but in fact good wives do not necessarily make good cockslaves. The odalisque role is quite different to that of a wife. So, a better option that couples should consider is for them – as a couple – to purchase and keep an odalisque to service their fantasies and needs.

In such a case, the odalisque will belong to the husband, since an odalisque must be directly responsible to a Master. She serves her Master and obeys him. She does not serve her Master’s wife. But – upon her Master’s instructions - she will serve the erotic needs of the Master and his wife both.

26.35. - Addressing the wife of a Slavekeeper

When an odalisque addresses the wife of her Keeper she does so with "Madam". Thus "Keeper and Madam". But not "Madam Slavekeeper". The Master's surname is used, "Madam [Jones]"

Let us suppose you are a horny middle aged couple. You own a large house, empty since your kids grew up and moved away.

Advertise for a woman to be your odalisque. She lives with you, occluded, secret from the world. She is kept naked. She has her own room. You use her in your sexual fantasies. Most nights you put her to use. As a couple you use the slave as a willing fuckpuppet, a toy, to explore your fantasies. Your odalisque is a luxurious indulgence, pure decadence.

An odalisque is a female sexual servant.

It could be what your marriage needs.

Physical Health (repost)

1.30. - Physical health

Code d' Odsalisque promotes a culture of physical health, elegance and beauty, luxury tempered with taste, debauchery with refinement. All players are encouraged to keep physically healthy, to eat well and exercise and to understand that good general physical condition is the key to potent libido.

15.12. - Physical health

The training of an odalisque will normally include a physical regime to keep her healthy and her body supple and ready for visual and sexual enjoyment.

Code d' Odalisque and "Code Culture' is pro-healthy living because it is pro-sexual. All players are encouraged to keep themselves fit and healthy and to understand that there is a necessary connection between good health and good times. Odalisques, in particular, must be kept healthy. Regular exercise and clean food are an important part of the odalisque's lifestyle. Her skin and hair must be kept in optimum health. Her beauty, as well as her stamina, depends upon healthy habits.

The Code is not puritanical about this. The values of Code d' Odalisque are hedonistic. But it is pro-health - because it is pro-sexual. Swimming, walking, jogging, gym, cycling - an odalisque's full lifestyle will include some type of healthy exercise. The exercise that is most recommended is a gentle form of yoga. This keeps the body toned and supple.

Shallow?

In a forum post a while ago a woman berated Code d' Odalisque in these terms. She said:

'Why use a [slave]... just for sexual kicks. What sort of man wants nothing but sex in life? Here is a complex, creative creature and you can only appreciate her on one level. How shallow...!'

This involves a misunderstanding. Gentlemen who own odalisques do not "want nothing but sex in life." And no one ever said they do. All they want from an odalisque is sex - broadly defined, and including the visual enjoyment of her beauty, etc. - but it is not all they want from life.

Far from it. Slavekeepers are typically gentlemen who have lived and are living rich, full lives. They are successful men. A man purchases himself an odalisque in order to add an extra dimension to his life, to explore a particular aspect of life in depth, as an indulgence, and so he is looking to expand and enhance his experiences; he is looking to enrich and broaden his life. This doesn't mean that sex is the only thing he values. But he does value sex, and he is investing in an odalisque in order to enjoy sex to the full.

This doesn't prevent him from seeking other types of fulfilment in marriage or romance at other times of his life. But a man who takes an odalisque has decided to spend a portion of his life in the dedicated pursuit of sexual pleasure. He knows that this is not what having a wife or a girlfriend is all about. They are complex relationships about emotional needs, companionship and other important things. They are not primarily about sex. An odalisque is. She is a slave who is kept just to be used for sex. She is a specialist.

The same is true of prostitutes. A man goes to a prostitute for sex, not for a meaningful relationship. He seeks meaningfulness and emotional satisfaction elsewhere, but sometimes a man just wants sex - so he visits a brothel. If a man "just wants sex" on an extended, regular basis, purchasing an odalisque, as an adornment to his life, is a good option.

And isn't it true in any walk of life that when people are put to certain specialised tasks, we "only appreciate them on one level." When the plumber comes to fix my shower, he may well be a "complex, creative creature" but I am only interested in his abilities as a plumber. How shallow of me.

An important feature of odalisque slavery under the codifications of Code d' Odalisque is that the duration of the woman's service is necessarily finite. Sexual slavery is a specialised expression of submission, but we all realise that there are other things in life than sex. It is shallow to suppose otherwise. Life is big, broad and beautiful, in all its endless variety. There's food, art, nature, conversation, travel, spirituality, family. Much more than "just sex."

Slaves can only be odalisques for a maximum of six years, under the protocols of Code d' Odalisque. It is recommended that Slavekeepers keep slaves for a finite period too. There are other things in life that keeping a sex slave might prevent him from enjoying. The nature of odalisque slave play is that couples (a man and woman) decide to dedicate a period of their lives to deliberate hedonistic indulgence in the form of a Master/slave relationship. He is the Slavekeeper. She is the compliant sexual servant. He keeps her and uses her to explore sexual (phallic) pleasure. This quest can and should be intense. For how long? One month? Three months? A year? Two? Five?

This is negotiated, but in any case it should be regarded as an adventure. Eventually, adventures end. These days, anyway, people want much more from life. People live longer and their lives go through more phases. Odalisque slave play - intense, occluded phallic exploration with a willing slave - is a lovely phase to add to one's life, but most people want more. Slavekeepers - gentlemen - want to appreciate certain people as "complex, creative creatures"; their friends, parents, wives, lovers. But that's not what an odalisque, any more than a plumber, is for.

As it happens, we are acquainted with a lady who lived the odalisque lifestyle for eight months. Now she has a young daughter and is a doting mother for whom her wild days as odalisque seem centuries ago but she still regards it as an enriching experience (for a fem sub like her) at the time. We also know a gentleman who enjoyed keeping a woman as an odalisque for a while but then decided that he now needed more; he'd had enough sex, now he wanted companionship. People balance different roles and transitions in life. This is good.

The other thing this critic has overlooked is that, included under the broad category of "sex", an odalisque is to be cultured and refined by her training and experience. She's an object, but there are different orders of object. She's not a dead lump of meat. Its not "just sex." Code d' Ode is also about refinement, as the context for the sex. We are well aware that hedonism can be both shallow and ugly. It is important that the brute libidinous sexuality that odalisque slavery celebrates is kept in a civilised frame of refinement.

Women and work

We live in times of radically changing work patterns and economic uncertainty. Generally speaking there is less work to go around than ever before. In advanced economies manufacturing industries have collapsed and hi-tech industries only make up the difference temporarily. There's more part-time and casual work and fewer uninteruipted career paths. Whereas the photography company Kodak once employed 140,000 people, the hi-tech company Instagram employs a grand total of thirteen employees. Accordingly, we face a world of increasing unemployment and even more under-employment. Times are uncertain. Even the idea that a college degree will assure you of a career no longer holds; more and more people are paying more and more for degrees that are obsolete before they even graduate. The job market is increasingly competitive and state welfare is increasingly unaffordable. The halcyon post-war era of full employment in lifelong careers and of the welfare state safety-net are gone.

The people most effected by these circumstances are those least able to look after themselves in the rough-and-tumble of a cut-throat market. This includes - as a group - submissive women. These are highly feminine women who tend to be shy, introverted and unassertive. Already, such women have been forced into the workforce by the feminist revolution which insists that women only have value when they compete with men on equal terms. The market favours masculine and assertive, dominant women. Submissive women are marginalized in a feminist society. They end up in poorly paid and trivial occupations, waiting tables or cleaning. Others suffer a worse fate. As we see in eastern European countries, and elsewhere, a trade soon begins to exploit submissive women, herding them into prostitution rackets. Forced prostitution is thriving in the world today. It targets vulnerable, unemployed women who have been displaced in the new economy.

The odalisque lifestyle presents itself as an alternative. Assuredly, it is only suitable for a small number of women who have real aptitude, but there is a class of submissive female for whom life as an odalisque - a sexual servant - would be fulfilling. The deal is that a gentleman owns and keeps an odalisque as his personal sexual servant. She is kept from toil and does not work. She serves through her beauty and her sex. She is protected from abuse and harm and maintained in a life of idleness and luxury. It is an opulent slavery. Her only duties are to be a compliant and willing sexual servant to her Master.

How is this better than waiting tables or washing dishes or wiping the backsides of incontinent old folks in aged care homes? Some women - contrary to all feminist assumptions - identify their beauty and their sex as their strongest asset in life. Why should a beautiful, sexy woman waste her eroticism working ten hour shifts in cafe kitchens? Why not put her assets to work for her instead? Instead of demeaning hack work, an odalisque can enjoy a life of luxury and pleasure where she spends her days doing what she is good at: fucking. There really are women who can boast that sex is what they do best. Why not enjoy a life where you can do what you do well?

How, then, would the odalisque's life be better than prostitution? The answer to this should be obvious. A prostitute's life is hazardous at best. Prostitution is usually outside the law and is subject to the violence and corruption of pimps, organised crime, crooked cops, as well as a sub-culture steeped in drug addiction and disease. It is not a glamorous life. Once again, submissive unassertive women miss out. Women who succeed as prostitutes tend to be toughened to the savagery of the street, hard women with strong preservation instincts. Its a life that will crush a shrinking violet. It is a life that brutalizes sensitive females.

The motto of Slavekeepers under Code d' Odalisque is: Protect. Nurture. Enjoy. The odalisque is protected, nurtured and enjoyed. It is an easy life of indulgence. The odalisque is protected from the destructive obligations of labour and is sheltered from prostitution. She is looked after and regarded as a treasure. She lives exempt from the workforce. She makes her living from sex, like a prostitute, but the sex is much more fun and instead of a pimp she has a Master whose first obligation is her welfare. For such women, bonded service is a much better deal than hire service.

But, you say, a slave is a slave. Why would any woman surrender into a state of slavery? The answer is that any average job is a form of slavery too. Wage slavery. As if washing dishes for $8 an hour isn't slavery. As if working nightshift at an all-night drive-thru for miserable wages, dealing with rude and abusive customers, isn't slavery. Only the wealthy are self-determining. In hard times especially most people - submissive women, in particular - are reduced to wage slaves whose lives are a day to day struggle. What is "freedom" worth then?

What about motherhood and marriage? This is an option for some women, but again the feminists have worked hard to ensure that those traditional roles are difficult to sustain. Not all women are suited to it, though. Some women are naturals. They have the body and the psychology that makes child-bearing natural to them, and they find motherhood extremely fulfilling. But the life of the mother/wife isn’t glamorous either; it can be a life of drudgery, dirty nappies and sleepless nights. The feminists are right to say that motherhood is not for every woman and should not be compulsory just because a woman has a womb. Far more women are suited to those traditional roles than the feminists imagine, but it is still not for everyone. (Marriage too is a slavery. That's why its called "the old ball and chain.")

Code d' Odalisque is founded upon the sure conviction that there are a certain number of women in the world who would find the odalisque's life both a refuge from social brutality and a rewarding adventure. Much depends upon a kind Master, of course, but the framework created by the Code is designed to discourage women-haters and sadists and psychopaths, all of whom prey upon vulnerable female submissives. The Code establishes a noble ideal of slavekeeping, a space for sexually submissive women to find protection and nurture. This is the stated mission of Code d’ Odalisque.

If a woman loves sex, if her real skill in life is entertaining and satisfying gentlemen, if she can find no dignity in lousy low-paid jobs, if she is not looking for marriage and children, if she is submissive and non-assertive by nature and seeks refuge from the harsh economic realities of our age, the odalisque lifestyle offers itself as a possible alternative.

Orgasm torture (repost)

Code d’ Odalisque is non-violent. It does not employ methods of sadomasochism. An odalisque is preserved from pain and rough treatment. She is a pleasure slave, treasured and protected.

But this does not mean that she cannot be subjected to certain violent pleasures. Pleasure can be as intense and as extreme as pain. An odalisque can be submitted to extremes of pleasure. She can be tormented, tortured with pleasure. There is no pleasure in violence, but there can be violent measures of pleasure.

Just because Code d’ Ode does not use S & M does not mean it is necessarily mild and vanilla. Play is not necessarily soft. Women who enjoy S & M enjoy the power of pain to take them into deeper zones of submission. These same zones can also be reached through pleasure. There are tools other than pain. There are other ways into the heart of a slave. An odalisque may be submitted to intense, even extreme methods including torture by pleasure or, more specifically, orgasm torture.

The human female orgasm, let us recall, is one of the most violent phenomena in mammilian sexuality. It is usually much deeper and more transforming than the male orgasm. The female climax has great power: this power can be used in the training and enjoyment of cockslaves.

The basic method is simple:

The slave is constrained or positioned suitably and is then subject to prolonged and intense sexual stimulation until she orgasms. This is then repeated until she is exhausted or begs for mercy.

Sexual stimulation can take any number of forms – digital, phallic, oral - including the use of vibrators and other electronic devices. Or a Keeper may enlist the aid of other gentlemen. Whatever it takes to get her off.

Typically, in this type of play, the slave is given permission to be vocal, to speak, cry, groan, yell in an uninhibited way. Open throated delight. Or, the slave is gagged. Gagged. Bound. Blindfolded. Or this might be an occasion for erotic chant. These are all matters of creative play.

Needless to say, bringing a woman to multiple thunderous orgasms requires some skill and finesse. The Keeper (or Trainer) should know the slave’s responses and – patiently - provoke intense, dramatic, deep, shuddering orgasms in her. He goes to work on her. She surrenders her body to him. He pleasures her until she cums. And cums. And cums.

If she cannot continue climaxing then he pushes her to the highest plateau of pleasure he can, and he keeps her there. Often, after a long duration, she will suddenly crash into climax. Otherwise, he pleasures her to exhaustion.

He should then use the power unleashed by these peaks of pleasure to shatter the slave, destroy her, reduce her to a sobbing, quivering mess. He uses orgasm torture to take her deep into sexual submission. It is a technique of sexual catharsis. The most extreme form of this play takes the form of the slave being reduced to a sobbing, incoherent, shaking, throbbing, blithering, gasping mess. She is reduced to jelly.

A session of orgasm torture should be planned in advance. Prepare the saray. Devices of restraint. See that the slave is rested. Perhaps select the best time of her monthly cycle. Perhaps ply her with wine. Put out the ‘Do not disturb’ sign. Then devote a long, wild night to pleasuring her body to climax as often as you are able. Aim to demolish her. Don’t stop until she is destroyed.

Orgasm torture should be approached as a fine art. Those that enjoy S & M consider the delights of pain an art form. So too the erotic arts in Code d’ Odalisque. Here the slave is passive. She surrenders her body, her flesh, her cunt. Her Keeper (or Trainer) uses whatever means he needs to subject her to intense, debilitating pleasure, forcing her to cum again and again.

Sex addiction

The concept of and term for “sex addiction” was the invention of an enterprising psychologist named Patrick Carnes who, in 1983, at the height of the ‘war on drugs’, decided to attach sex to fashionable and lucrative research into drug addiction. In doing so, Carnes created a whole new category of “addict” and has since set up dozens of expensive clinics and programs offering “cures”. All he did, in fact, was repackage older notions of the “nymphomaniac” and the “sex maniac” and dressed it up with a bit of scientific-sounding psycho-speak, but his book was a bestseller and countless people suddenly became convinced they had a problem. Fashionable people were all asking themselves, ‘Am I a sex addict?’ Men who couldn’t get to sleep at night without masturbating suddenly wondered if they had a ‘problem’ that needed treatment. In hard-nose scientific circles, however, the idea of sexual addiction is far from an established fact and is not regarded as a defineable clinical condition. A solid body of opinion questions whether there is really any such thing outside of socially constructed assumptions.

Indeed, when we look closely at Carnes’ work, it emerges that there is no definition of “sex addiction” that does not depend upon judgments made about “behaviour outside of social norms…” That is, a so-called “sex addict” is horny beyond what is socially normal. That’s the key factor in diagnosis. But does this make it a disease? Does this mean it requires treatment? Otherwise, people with real addictions (drugs, alcohol) and other psychological disorders are sometimes “hypersexual” (i.e. exceptionally horny) but there is no proven connection between their horniness and their other problems. People who are compulsive about sex will be compulsive about everything. They’re just compulsive. There’s no special category of sexual compulsive. And might it not be that such people are simply free of societal inhibitions and their exceptional horniness is, in fact, “natural” and what we regard as “normal” is not?

The whole idea is dubious at best. What is evident is that some people are very, very horny. They need sex much more frequently than other (normal?) people, and it means much more to them than it does to other (normal?) people. Yes, sometimes they are so horny it becomes an inconvenience in their life. They might find a conventional marriage unsatisfying, for example. Their need for sex might tempt them to take stupid risks in life, such as sleeping with the wrong people. If they can’t find sexual partners, they are likely to be very unhappy and frustrated. They might have trouble concentrating on other things. They might begin to wish they weren’t so horny. That is where Dr Carnes steps in to convince them he can cure their “addiction” in exchange for large sums of money. It’s a very old scam: convince someone they’re sick and then sell them the cure. If someone has a stronger libido than most people, and its socially inconvenient, Dr Carnes wants to convince them its an illness. Hyper-horniness is thus pathologized.

All of this is relevant to us because Code d’ Odalisque is an arena for adult play specifically for the hyper-horny. It also explores obsession and fetishism and many of the things that constitute “sex addiction.” A man purchases an odalisque because he has an exceptional drive to phallic pleasure and he needs a compliant slave to use in order to slake his thirst; nothing else will do. A woman becomes an odalisque because she loves sex, loves cock, loves being used. She loves these things so much – far more than most women - she wants to devote a portion of her life dedicated just to these loves. Slavekeepers and odalisques are both the type of people who might commonly be labelled as “sex addicts.” Odalisque slave play is a game and a lifestyle for such “sex addicts.” And addiction, obsession, monomania are themes of play because they are all expressions of LUST. To lust is to be obsessed, fixated, addicted. What is it that is being labelled “addiction” here? Lust. Need. These emotions and urges are the very substance of play in Code d’ Odalisque.

We therefore resist the idea that our “addiction” is an illness that requires medical treatment. We prefer to see it as an itch that requires scratching, a need that requires fulfilling. This is the whole purpose of odalisque slavery and the Slavekeeper/odalisque relationship. Odalisque slavery is inherently sexual. The Master/slave dynamic is inherently sexual. People get into this lifestyle because they have a serious need – a compulsion – to explore and enjoy and indulge in sexual pleasure – a need that goes beyond those opf “normal” people. That’s why a Keeper needs a slave and why a slave needs a Keeper. The whole relationship is based in mutual sexual addiction. We embrace our “addiction” and play with it. The joy of indulgence and nights of debauchery is all the therapy we need.

This is not to make light of real psychological problems that cause people real suffering. There are unhappy people who are compelled to masturbate violently and self-destructively in public, for example. That’s a job for a psychologist. There are people who compulsively self-mutilate out of pathological sexual shame due to a strict religious upbringing. That’s a job for a psychologist. But there’s a creeping tendency these days to pathologize what is, in fact, perfectly normal behaviour. People aren’t sad anymore, they’re “depressed”. Kids aren’t badly behaved and unruly, they have some “attention deficit disorder.” Similarly, if someone is super-horny and feels the pull of lust far stronger than most, if they constantly crave sex and think about sex and sleep around, they’re a “sex addict”. It’s a convenient excuse. A woman keeps going to nightclubs and picks up strangers and says, “I’m sick. I’ve got an addiction.” Take some responsibility. Its not a sickness, it’s a lifestyle choice! We need to keep the line between normal and pathological very clear, and “normal” should, in any case, be a very broad and diverse category indeed. It is disturbing that things are moving in the opposite direction.

Code d’ Odalisque is a lifestyle choice. Healthy, responsible, consenting adults choose to indulge in a role playing game/lifestyle on the theme of sexual slavery. People attracted to such a game/lifestyle are, of course, prime candidates for a “sex addict” diagnosis. The reason the game/lifestyle takes the form of Master/slave is because that is the relationship that explores obsession, fixation, addiction. Specifically, the focus of fixation in odalisque slave play is the phallus. It is all cock-centred. The man is the hyper-phallic male. The woman is the cock-obsessed slave. Play takes the form of “cock worship”, a devoted fetishism. These “addictions” are amplified, shaped and explored. Its certainly more fun than the middle-class santizing that happens at Dr Carnes’ clinics. Don’t be duped into believing you’re sick when really you are just different. Vive la difference! Don't let anybody tell you that needing sex three times a day is a disease. It might be inconvenient, but its not a disease. Be proud to be a nympho! There have always been nymphos. Let us hope there always will be and they're not counselled and medicated out of existence. Scratch the itch!

La Fille (repost)

26.19. - The use of the nickname 'La Fille'

As a term of endearment, a Keeper may refer to his odalisque by the French la fille (girl) and employ it in the manner of a nickname. Only a slave's Keeper may use this form.

Examples of correct form:

La Fille! Your Keeper wants to see you.

Your Keeper wants your services tonight, La Fille!

One of the French elements of Code play is the use of the term “la fille” (pronounced la fee) as a nickname, a term of endearment and familiarity. A Slavekeeper will refer to his odalisque as “la fille”, as in the following scenario:

He thought for a moment, before turning his attention to his slave.

“La Fille,” he said, “I am endeavoring to organize guests for tomorrow night. I am letting you know. Mr Harris. Mr Cousins. I am having them around for dinner.”

“Oui,” said the slave meekly.

Only a Slavekeeper may refer to a slave in this way. It is a nickname exclusive to the Master/slave bond.

The Gloryhole

A "gloryhole", if you are not familiar with it, is a hole in a wall strategically placed to allow a man to poke his penis through it while, on the orther side of the wall, someone pleasures it orally. In popular culture the "gloryhole" has been part of gay underworld culture. You can find gloryholes in public toilets which are pick up places for homosexuals, or in the toilets of gay nightclubs. By extension, the idea has heterosexual popularity too. In porn films, the woman goes to the lavatory and to her pleasant surprise a huge erection pokes through a hole in the wall. Naturally, she starts sucking...

Here is a typical gloryhole porn pic:

The ambience is deliberately grungy, a low-class whore/tramp having dirty anonymous sex in a filthy grafitti-sprayed toilet. Low-life filth is erotic to some people.

In Code d' Odalisque we rescue the gloryhole from the toilet/grunge associations it has had. Instead, it becomes a built-in feature of the Slavekeeper's playroom, his saray. And it can be done tastefully. Perhaps a brass ring surround, handles and other comforts for the gentleman on his side of the wall, and some cushions for the slave on the other side of the wall.

A gloryhole is a natural device in the process of objectification and cockworship. It separates the man from the cock. It allows the slave to serve cock, just cock, independent of her Master's personality. She can treat the cock as an object. It is very useful in this respect. It has therefore been a device employed in odalisque slave play from the beginning.

Gentlemen who are setting up a saray (playroom) in which to play with their slave should consider the erotic possibilities of the gloryhole. It is very much in keeping with the dynamics of odalisque service and odalisque cockworship. Here's a much better gloryhole in operation:

If burnished surrounds are beyond your budget, then you can at least put in a suitable hard plastic surround in order to create a smooth-edged hole. Just hacking or drilling a hole in a wall won't do. Here's a picture of a hard plastic surround installed at a very reasonable cost, providing an attractive hole at just the right height. Make sure you test the height before you start drilling, by the way!

(Note - A gloryhole can be hidden behind suitable furniture when not in use.)

Code d' Odalisque - systems

Code d' Odalisque represents a rich body of ideas and practices for reviving odalisque slave play in a contemporary consensual form. The Code itself, and accompanying material, was a coming-together of several strands of creative ideas with their roots in European historical fantasies about odalisque culture. Most of the credit for this must go to Steven and Vicki Rose, who did the initial drafting, along with Gordon Hayes, and others. What is now Code d' Odalisque is an ensemble of previously separate documents that was revised and further revised into a complete and comprehensive system of odalisque slavery. There are numerous developed sub-systems within the Code that itself constitutes a total system. We can distinguish:

*A philosophy

The Code sets out a philosophy for odalisque slavery, based in 'enlightened hedonism'. Note that this is quite a different philosophical position than that which underpins most contemporary BDSM. It is concerned with pleasure, not with power.

*A system of phallic devotion

The Code incorporates ideas, themes and practices of phallic devotion, i.e. cockworship. Odalisque slavery is expressly defined and understood as a mode of female phallic devotion.

*A system of slave positions, postures and commands

The Code incorporates a full system of positions, postures and commands with an emphasis upon both grace and elegance and positions for sexual access. In part, based on historical models, further developed from practice.

*A system of contract

The Code incorporates a system of contract first used by the earliest players of Code d' Ode and further worked up into a complete set of quasi-legal codifications and protocols.

*A system of assessing and grading women slaves

The Code includes a system for assessing and grading female slaves. It uses a distinct notion of 'virginity' as the measure of the value of slaves. (This was originally a separate 'game'.)

*A system of etiquette

The Code includes a full system of etiquette and manners for both slaves and Keepers. From the outset, slavery was conceived as an institution for refinement, not for degradation.

*A system of speech and discourse

The Code also includes a system of speech and discourse which was developed separately to the system of etiquette. The feature of the system of speech and discourse is the use of French words, titles and phrases, the francofication of play.

*An approach to training

The Code incorporates a distinct approach to slavetraining suited to odalisques. This is based on distinctions between freewoman, odalisque, slut and whore, and uses the processes of 'discalcing' and 'unslutting' as the basis of training.

Code d' Odalisque is offered free to all interested adults. Our objective is to build a viable international community of consenting adults who enjoy the odalisque lifestyle and accompanying Code Culture. We are building an odalisque slave culture for the new century.

Simplicity - a letter

We received a very nice letter from a woman named Jillian recently who relates that she lived as an odalisque to her husband and Master (John) for several years before her lifestyle was interupted by a cancer scare and other health issues. They found Code d' Odalisque through a link on Humbled Females and, she says, knew straight away that it was what they were looking for. Like many other correspondents, Jillian relates that she spent years dabbling with female submissive lifestyles in the BDSM community but was always put off by the expectation that sadomasochism and 'power exchange' is the norm. She was looking for a sexually submissive role that did not assume she was into being whipped, tortured and beaten. Her husband/master (John), moreover, is not a "dom" as such, but an "ordinary guy" into sex more than he is into power. She says that he always felt unwelcome in the local BDSM scene where he was regarded as "vanilla". They also felt themselves to be outsiders in much of the 'humbled females' community too because Jillian was not looking for the 'traditional housewife' model either. She didn't want to be a whipping horse for sadomasochists, and she didn't want to be a domestic drudge. Her subsmissiveness is sexual. She is a sexual submissive. She loves to be used, sexually. Code d' Odalisque provided them with an alternative model and gave them a wealth of ideas and inspiration with which to construct a lifestyle suited to them. She wrote to thank us for offering this and to report what a rewarding experience it was for both of them.

The letter serves as a reminder that there are now lots of people thinly dispersed around the globe who have adopted all or some of Code d' Ode and who are actively exploring this lifestyle but are doing so in private. Consequently, we have no idea just how many players there are. Until Jillian wrote to us we had no idea she and her husband were practising odalisque slavery. How many other couples are out there using Code d' Odalisque to make themselves an odalisque lifestyle? We are aware of and correspond with numerous players, but since the Code is readily available on the internet we cannot even estimate how many people have found it and taken it up in the privacy of their marriage/relationship. It is gratifying to realise that there are many more players involved in Code d' Ode than we know about. We are always very happy to hear from slaves or slavekeepers, always happy to exchange notes and ideas and to offer support and assistance to new players.

One point Jillian makes in her letter needs underlining. She writes that, for her, the great joy of being an odalisque was in the simplicity of the lifestyle. This is what other women have reported to us too. Life for the modern women is complex and demanding. There are the demands of marriage, family, work, domestic economy, education. Every woman is expected to be super-woman who can do and have it all. Jillian describes herself as a "sensitive" woman not suited to the highly competitive world of the uber-successful woman. She relates that she experienced a "breakdown" at college when she was younger because of the "stress" and spent years being misdiagnosed and medicated by "head-shrinkers" before her life changed and she met her husband. The best thing about living as an odalisque, she says, is that she was relieved of all her other duties except the duty of satisfying her Master sexually. It was "what I wanted all along... not... for all my life [but] the relief of not juggling a thousand things for a few years..." came as an "enormous weight" lifted from her. She relates her frustration. "Everyone always say you can do it and is full of positive thinking..." but she felt it was like "telling a man in a wheelchair to walk." She was simply ill-equipped for the ridiculous demands being made on her. So it was "salvation" to retire into occlusion as an odalisque. It was the simplicity of the lifestyle that attracted her most. The odalisque has no other tasks. She is kept for sex. Her Master keeps her, provides for her. She is not required to wash or cook or shop. She is not a domestic servant. And nor is she required to work a job and make money. She is kept and pampered and her duties are reduced to the single task of serving her Master's bed. It is a supremely uncomplicated existence free of the demands and expectations to be a wife/mother/graduate/businesswoman/lover/colleague/citizen etc. imposed upon the supposedly "liberated" modern woman. For women like Jillian it is liberating to be just an "object" and nothing more and to have a simple life of lust, pleasure and sexual indulgence. Imagine if all you had to do in life was fuck.

This, we realise, is the great attraction of Code d' Odalisque. It offers women like Jillian another alternative. Modern life can be tough and cruel for "sensitive" females. Such women can be brutalized in the modern workplace. BDSM is no solution, and neither is the 'traditional wife' role. But life in occlusion as an odalisque is beautifully simple. The odalisque is directed to a single task. She can live without a care. She has no responsibilities. It is a stress-free life of pleasure and service. Certainly, it is not for all women, and no one supposes that it is. But there are clearly women for whom this is an ideal lifestyle, if only for a few years in their life. We are happy to hear from women like Jillian - it assures us that Code d' Ode is making a positive change and offering a different possibility for sexually submissive females. That is what its mission was from the outset.

We'd love to hear from people who are using Code d' Odalisque (in whole or in part) in their private lives. Tell us your story. Write to us at: bedroomslaves@yahoo.com

Right to a pet

An odalisque enjoys many privileges compared to low slaves (memlooks). One of these is that she is permitted to keep a pet. Ordinarily, this is not a right accorded to a slave. A slave is a pet - a slave doesn't have pets of their own. But odalisques have been raised above the level of common slaves. They are special slaves, specially preserved for their beauty for erotic use. Unlike low slaves, they are given their own room (an odella) and enjoy other privileges such as being able to eat at table with her Master. She is also allowed to own a pet. This is a concession made to her. She can share her captivity with a pet. The Code is specific. It says:

10.47. - The right to a pet

An odalisque has the right to have a pet such as a cat or a bird.

The fact that cats and birds are mentioned is accidental. (Most of the Code was constructed for use by a particular cohort of players in the 1990s and the women concerned liked cats and birds.) Other pets - dogs, fish, hamsters - are acceptable too. A leopard? A lion? A bird of prey? Romantic, but a kitten is probably more practical.

Of course, it goes without saying that all of the rules of good pet ownership apply. A slave's pet should not cause the slave's Master any trouble. The best pet is one that provides company to the slave but is otherwise inconspicuous and low maintenance. A pet should be an adornment, not a hassle. A pet should fit into the other aspects of the odalisque's life. Since an odalisque is kept by her Master, the costs of the slave's pet are to be met by her Master.

Power exchange in Code d' O (repost)

Question: How is Code d’ Ode different to the rest of BDSM?

Answer: It is part of BDSM, by any definition, but it is a distinct system of consensual slavery. It is different and distinct in many ways. For example, it does nopt include sado-masochism and it is not based – first and foremost - on “power exchange”. It is not about “power exchange”, as such.

Question: Isn’t all consensual slavery about power exchange? Person A surrenders power to Person B. So Code d’ Ode is no different, is it?

Answer: That is true. By definition slavery is a power exchange. Necessarily so. So there is power exchange, of course. But in Code d’ Ode, power exchange is not the point of or the focus of play. It is about pleasure, not power. There is an exchange of power in order to facilitate pleasure and the pursuit of pleasure. The real dynamic is “fantasy projection” – the sharing of sexual fantasy. Power itself is not the enjoyment. And in that regard Code d’ Ode is different to much of what we might call mainstream BDSM, which is about power exchange. People enjoy power. People get off on power. But Code d’ Ode is not about the enjoyment of power – not primarily.

This follows from Code d’ Ode being non-violent, hedonistic and non-sado-masochistic. Because violence, inflicting pain, sado-masochism – these are about power. Power exchange – where it is an end in itself – naturally extends to that exercise of power we call violence. In BDSM people explore power exchange, including dabbling in controlled and consensual violence. Spanking, whipping, torture – these things are about power, obviously. The thrill is in the power. The thrill of wielding it and the thrill of surrendering it. This is why some people argue that BDSM is not essentially sexual. It is not about sex. It is about power.

Play in Code d’ Ode is not primarily about power. Of course, there is power exchange. The slave surrenders power and the Slavekeeper wields it. And that may be enjoyable in itself, but it is not thrill of it. Power exchange – slave to Master – is only a function necessary to the main game: the pursuit of sexual pleasure and sexual exploration. Code d’ Odalisque is hedonistic. It is not about power. It is about pleasure. It is about sex. It uses power – of course. But it is about pleasure. There is the pleasure of power too – we do not deny it! But the focus is upon sexual pleasure and sexual fantasy.

The exact psychology of Code d’ Odalisque is as follows:

Power exchange facilitates fantasy projection. Person A surrenders power to Person B so that fantasy projection may occur. Power exchange is not an end in itself. Power exchange is not the thrill. The thrill is fantasy projection.

That is different than in most BDSM.

Fantasy projection is a different modus operandi. It involves the projection of sexual fantasy – a sexual energy – between Master and slave. There is power exchange, yes, but only in order to allow a situation in which fantasy projection can occur. This is where the female slave becomes an “image” (simulacra) of her Master’s inner “fantasy female”.

Another consequence of this is summed up in the slogan ‘Man is her Master. Cock is her god.’ The slave in Code d’ Odalisque is not centred upon the personality of her Master. She is a sex slave. Cock is her god. In standard BDSM slave-play the slave will often be consumed by the dominant personality of her Master. He will be regarded like a demigod. The slave worships her Master. This is because of the power exchange between them. There is a concentration of power in the Master; he becomes a little god, a guru.

Code d’ Ode has a different emphasis. The odalisque is phallocentric. She obeys her Master, but it is cock she worships. It is an important distinction. There are no personality cults in Code d’ Odalisque. The slave is less wrapped up in the personality of her Master. Her surrender, finally, is to cock, not to him. Accordingly, a Slavemaster in Code d’ Ode need not be an alpha-male with a powerful personality. He need not embody authority and power in himself. Code d’ Ode does not empower the Slavemaster to the same degree as much BDSM power exchange. There is limited power exchange. Beyond that the dynamics of Code d’ Ode is through the projection of sexual fantasy.

The distinction is plain in practice: In “power exchange” a woman will enjoy being tied up and the Master will enjoy tying her up. That is the point of the play. Often there is no sex involved. Often the bondage will extend to controlled violence – paddling, spanking, whipping. All “power exchange”.

In Code d’ Ode, while the tying up might be enjoyable in itself, it is really just a preparation for the main event: the sexual enjoyment of the bound slave. The emphasis is on the sex, not on the bondage. Power exchange is not an end in itself.

Protection from psychopaths

A criticism sometimes made of Code d’ Odalisque is that it places too much emphasis upon safety and that play is “over regulated” with rules. Part of the reason for this emphasis on safety, and upon protecting the odalisque from harm, is historical. Some of the redrafting of the Code was done during a time when the so-called ‘Internet Killer’ – John Edward Robinson (see photo above) – was in the news. Robinson’s case was, and is, a cautionary tale, and no one should imagine for a minute that it was an isolated case. Robinson is a serial killer convicted for at least five murders, and it is believed he committed many more. His technique for finding victims was to pose as a “Slave Master” on internet chat forums, targeting submissive females. In several cases that we know of, unsuspecting submissive women gave their trust to him and paid with their lives. In one case, a victim signed a 138 point ‘Slave Contract” with him, giving him total control of her life, including all her bank accounts. Like his other victims, she was beaten to death with a hammer and her body was left to rot in a barrel. Posing as a “Slave Master” Robinson trawled his way through the BDSM scene and poor, unsuspecting victims lined up for him. He found no shortage of interested females.

In view of cases like this, Code d’ Odalisque has been crafted with safety in mind. It is designed to be unattractive to psychopathic males, for a start. Under the Code Slavemasters are subject to all sorts of rules and checks and balances to ensure they do not abuse their power. Equally, slaves are given rights and privileges to help protect them from abuses. Most important, though, is the principle of “triangulation” – namely that play requires additional players beyond the Master/slave relationship. The common factor in all dangerous situations is isolation. Psychopaths are almost invariably lone wolves. There is safety in numbers. Under Code d’ Ode, a female slave has the right to an Overmistress – an independent protector who is charged with looking after her safety and interests at all times. There are also ‘Slavetraders’ who are non-sexual players, independent of Slavemasters. It is undesirable for a slave to have an isolated one-on-one arrangement with a Slavemaster. Instead, there should be others involved. This is at least some protection against maniacs.

Moreover, Code d’ Odalisque is a non-violent system of slave play. There is no sado-masochism. It is non-SM. Accordingly, it does not attract males who get their thrills from power and violence. Characters like John Edward Robinson are invariably sado-masochists. Their whole psychology is built around power, violence and cruelty. They find a natural home in the BDSM scene that provides them with a rich source of hapless victims. Code d’ Odalisque is designed to keep away men like this. And it is designed to provide a safety net for submissive females.

‘Triangulation’ means that there should be (at least) three people involved. A Contract, under the Code, requires three signatures, for example. The victims of Robinson signed slave contracts with him, but in every case it was just him and them. He isolated the female and made sure no one else knew of their arrangement. In Code d’ Ode, if a man and a woman want to start a Master/slave arrangement, the first thing they need to do is to find a third person to witness their contract. It is important, for safety reasons, that someone else knows what is going on. Even better if the slave has an Overmistress who will keep an eye on her and look after her welfare. An isolated Master/slave relationship, with a powerful male and a submissive female, is an inherently dangerous arrangement. From the start, Code d’ Odalisque was designed to counter such dangers and to ensure that play happens in a wider network of people. This is why the Code places so much emphasis upon safety and the rights of the odalisque. There are psychopaths out there – the Code tries to protect against them.

Submissive women – precisely because they are submissive – are vulnerable. The mission of the Code is to provide a safe environment for odalisques. Women are advised to embrace the Code and to see it as a safety net. Insist that men observe the Code. The case of Robinson is a grim reminder of the dangers of the Master/slave lifestyle. The Code was written with that in mind. We are happy to be criticized for being “over-protective” and for “over-regulating” Slavekeepers. An odalisque is a treasure. She needs protection. Our motto is: Protect, Nurture, Enjoy. It is very important to protect our women from sado-masochistic monsters like Robinson.

How do I get my wife or girlfriend interested? (Repost)

Question: I am really interested in Code d' Odalisque. How do I get my wife/girlfriend interested in this?

Many couples already play an informal version of Code d' Ode in their bedroom games. The woman submits sexually to her man and says, “Use me! Do whatever you want with me! I'm your sex slave!” If you already play such games, that is a good basis for further development. You can then start to add elements of Code d' Ode to your slave games, especially the slave positions and the code of etiquette. A prerequisite, of course, is that your lady is sexually submissive. She must be inclined to sexual service by nature. We have no interest in making a woman into something that is against her nature. But if your wife or girlfriend has aptitude for sexual service – she loves to be used, she loves to serve cock – then you can foster that natural inclination. A true odalisque – a woman who is suited to full-time service – is rare. So it is unlikely that your wife/girlfriend is a true odalisque. If she is, rejoice! But the role of wife and odalisque are quite different and it is unlikely that you are so fortunate to have married a woman with the soul of a true slave. In that case, aim for part-time play or consider finding an odalisque for both you and your wife to enjoy. How do you get your wife/girlfriend interested? Build on existing foundations.

Then introduce her to the Code. Emphasize the pro-feminine and non-violent aspects of the Code. Stress that you are not looking for a domestic servant cook/housekeeper. In fact, you might suggest employing a housekeeper in order to keep your wife/odalisque from domestic toil and freeing her for sexual service. Suggest to your wife that you employ someone to do the domestic chores so that she can be free to take on the luxurious life of sensuality and sexual delights enjoyed by the odalisque. For a woman with natural aptitude the odalisque's life is a good deal indeed. She is kept for sex. This is a better deal than the average wife has. The average wife is housekeeper/mother/cook/cleaner/nurse AND sex-provider, and often works a job as well! When you introduce your wife to Code d' Ode, offer her a new deal. Offer her a life of sensual leisure in return for sexual obedience.

And in this offer her sexual adventure. If your wife is not in the least bit sexually adventurous then Code d' Ode is not for her. The prospect of sexual adventure needs to be enticing to her or you don't have much chance of getting her interested. The whole reason a couple who consider taking up a Master/slave relationship under Code d' Odalisque is for sexual adventure. It is a journey into luxury and lust, and specifically an exploration of the Master's fantasies. Your wife needs to be ready for that. She must have a genuine desire and readiness for playing the role of her husband's secret fantasy girl. She must be prepared to do that, be that. Happily, there are wives who will do whatever it takes to bring their man to fulfilment. If your wife is like that then you have a real chance of getting her interested. If not, little. Is the prospect of sexual adventure – exploring fantasy and pushing limits - an exciting prospect for your wife? Or are you ill-matched? You're adventurous – she's a prude? You can't turn a woman into a (consensual) odalisque if it is against her natural dispositions. So, make an honest assessment of your wife's aptitude. Then introduce her to the Code and emphasize that it offers her a new deal. Then, proceed slowly. Talk lots. Don't rush. Don't try to talk her into it. Talk about it.

It hardly needs to be said that if your marriage is shaky then it is probably not a good idea to introduce Code d' Ode into it. It certainly won't save a bad marriage but it is intense and might harm a precarious marriage. Only consider it if you already have a strong relationship with a high degree of trust and familiarity and understanding between you.

Keeping a cockslave (repost)

Keeping a cockslave: some basic preparatory points. These are some basic things to note if you are at the beginning of owning a cockslave.

*You are Slavekeeper. Your odalisque is slave. Owning a slave is a responsibility and a privilege. A Keeper must keep his slave. You must feed, accommodate and look after your slave.

*Your odalisque is a captive sex slave. You keep her as a captive. You do so in order to use her for your sexual enjoyment.

*She cannot be used as a work slave. Her only task is sex. She does not cook or clean. As Keeper, you will need to organize cooking and cleaning both for yourself and for her.

*Your slave is a secret captive. She is hidden from the world. She is kept in “occlusion”. Treat your slave as a secret. Keep your slave lifestyle a secret.

*The slave is forbidden to leave the house without express permission. The Keeper should establish rules about this and about her behavior outside the house (sojourn). The less time the slave spends in sojourn the better. The more time she spends in occlusion the better.

*You control your slave’s clothing. Her natural state is completely naked. She should be allowed appropriate garments but kept “essentially naked.”

*Because your slave is kept naked or semi-naked you need to provide appropriate heating.

*Your slave must have access to bath and shower (and spa, where possible). An odalisque should spend a lot of her time washing, relaxing, preening, preparing herself for the use of her Master.

*Instruct your slave in your preferences regarding her presentation to you. Tell her how you want her to present herself. With her hair up or down? Her pubic hair trimmed or shaven? Etc.

*The slave should wear an “attar” – that is, a distinctive perfume. Make sure she wears this perfume whenever she is in active service as odalisque.

*Encourage a “service ethic” in the slave. She should be eager to serve and proud to do her job well.

*Establish a routine for the slave. Her life should be restrictive and structured. She is a captive, not a freewoman.

*The slave should be nurtured – this requires that she goes on sojourn for some things. Allow her to go for walks, or swimming, or to piano lessons, or yoga classes, or French lessons, or other activities outside the house, as arranged. The Slavekeeper must pay for these activities.

*Your odalisque has her own room – her odella. It should be comfortable, heated, private. She spends most of her time as captive in her odella.

*Adjust your slave’s sleeping so that she lives mostly at night. An odalisque is a creature of the night. Let her sleep until mid to late afternoon.

*Ensure that all contracts and guidelines are in order before any play begins. Give proper attention to matters of consent, safety and legality.

*Discuss contraception with your slave from the very beginning. There is a heavy responsibility upon a Slavekeeper to not let his odalisque fall pregnant.

*Discuss the question of guests with your slave from the very beginning. The default position is that a Keeper may share his slave with other gentlemen. Does the slave agree with this? If so, under what conditions?

*Teach the slave the basic slave positions. Construct slave play around the slave postures and commands. Let it be formal but not military-style.

*A Slavekeeper should acquire a suitable sword as emblem of his authority over his slave. An odalisque lives “under the sword”. Where there is no sword a cane can be substituted as a makeshift sword.

*Require the slave to say certain things in French. Start with using “oui” instead of “yes”. Control her speech. Set rules.

*Use bondage and confinement (cages etc.) to instill a captive mentality into the slave.

*Be clear in your own mind about how you want to use your slave. What do you want her to do sexually? How do you want to use her? Be creative.

*Code d' Odalisque
