Phallic obsession
Phallic obsession is a central theme in Code d'Odalisque. An odalisque (cockslave) is, by definition, obsessed with cock. She has a much, much deeper love of cock than ordinary women – that is why she has decided to dedicate herself to sexual service. Cock is her god. She has a deep desire – a deep need – to serve cock. She only feels true to herself when she is in service to cock.
Obviously, such women are rare. While most women might have a natural love of cock, an odalisque's phallic obsessions extend much further and much deeper. She is truly obsessed. Her natural love of cock has consumed her. She is mad with cock lust. She wants nothing more than to serve. She has a deep instinct to serve.
The basis of cockworship in Code d' Ode, however, is not the same as most historical phallic worship. Throughout history and across many cultures people have worshipped the phallus, but usually as an object of fertility. Phallic cults have worshipped the male organ as the giver of life, the impregnator, the fountain of fertility.
In Code d' Ode phallic worship is not a fertility cult. Instead, it is a PLEASURE CULT. Code d' Ode is not about fertility. It is about pleasure and the pursuit of sexual ecstasy. The reason why a woman worships cock in Code d' Ode is not because cock is the carrier of life but because cock is the instrument and agent of pleasure and joy. Cock has the power to bring a woman to ecstasy, to transform her. No other power on earth can do this. This is why cock is worthy of worship.
The basis of phallic worship in Code d' Ode then is the phallus' power to transform and to bring ecstasy and joy. Why would a woman worship cock? Because, of all things in the world, cock is made to bring her to unspeakable ecstasy and orgasmic delight. She can find nothing else that moves her to the same degree. This is why she will worship cock. Because cock gives her a divine experience of joy. It has nothing to do with fertility. It is about pleasure, desire, delight. That is the basis for her obsession. She loves cock and wants to serve cock and reveres cock because of what cock can do to her.
It is important to realise that cockworship in Code d' Ode takes this form and has this foundation. It is not a fertility cult. It is more a tantric cult of ecstasy and transforming pleasure.
Note also that although an odalisque is a cockslave who serves and obeys a Master, it is not him who she worships. She obeys him. She serves him. But cock is her obsession. Cock is her god. (She could never serve a eunuch... ) Cock is the focus of her devotion.

Finite Tenure - A Sabbath of Years
6.16. - Duration of a bond
An odalisque is the possession of her owner from the date of her purchase for an agreed period up to a maximum of six years or until such time as she is sold or her owner grants her freedom from her bond to him.
The question of tenure is a controversial one in Code d’ Odalisque. The Code places a limit on how long a woman can be an odalisque - we receive emails from women who strongly disagree with this rule. Their argument is that they are born slaves and will always be slaves and so how can there be a time limit on their active service? Here are a few points to consider:
*The Code limits odalisque slavery to six years. This, in fact, is traditional and historical. Indeed, it is even Biblical! The idea of limited-tenure slavery was a feature of Near Eastern slave traditions and this has continued into the modern rewriting of those traditions that is Code d’ Odalisque. The classical duration of slavehood is “a sabbath of years”. Slaves were freed on the seventh year.
*An odalisque is a specialised type of slave. Common slaves are called “memlooks” in Code d’ Ode. A woman can be a memlook for her whole life without restriction. But she can only spend a part of that time elevated into the special role of odalisque. After serving as an odalisque she can always return to being a memlook. Memlooks can be used for sexual service just like an odalisque but they do not have the rights and privileges of odalisques, among other differences.
*Odalisque slavery is intense. It is physically and psychologically demanding to be a dedicated cockslave. Code d’ Ode uses techniques of psychological training such as psychological “simplification” that are deep and profound. It is not advisable for a woman to be subjected to the intense demands of cockslavery for too long in her life. Odalisque slavery is similar to prostitution in this respect - to work as a prostitute for a few years is one thing, but in the long term it will take its toll on a woman. No one wants to create sad old burnt-out odalisques.
*Beauty fades. It is best if a woman spends time as an odalisque while young, horny and nubile. But these things don’t last forever. An odalisque is an exquisite treasure. Such beauty is, by the nature of things, fleeting.
*Odalisque slavery is about one thing and one thing only - sex. This is great but there are - finally - other things in life. We do need to keep matters in perspective. The sexual adventure an odalisque brings a man is after all an *ornament* to a rich life. Let us not mistake the ornament for the substance of the thing itself. Life is rich and diverse and complex. Sex is its greatest pleasure, but not its only pleasure by any means. In any case, most modern women want many things from life. Sexual adventure is only one of them.
*People change. We all go through phases. We all take detours and wrong turns and back streets in life. A young woman will enter odalisque slavery with conviction and zeal, but six years later she has grown and matured into a different person and now looks forward to wider interests. Her biology has kicked in too and she has begun to start thinking about having children before she gets too old. This is the reality. Code d’ Odalisque takes account of the realities.
* When we say that a woman is born to be an odalisque - she is an odalisque by nature - this does not mean she should be one her whole life. Yes, she is born to be a cockslave, it is her nature, and it may be her whole purpose in life, but she can fulfil that purpose in a single period of her life. After that she returns to being either freewoman or memlook. She would never have felt fulfilled if she had not been an odalisque. It was something she had to do. She was born for it. But she can satisfy her innate need to serve by being a cockslave for several years only - she doesn’t need to spend her whole life as one. Some people feel driven to climb to the peak of a mountain. They climb the mountain and feel fulfilled. They don’t have to live up there!
*Keeping an odalisque is a heavy expense for a man. Few men could afford to keep an odalisque indefinitely. It is best, therefore, if the arrangement is finite.
*Finite tenure adds to the intensity of play. If a Slavekeeper knows that his use of his cockslave is only until a certain date, he will be inclined to put her to constant and extensive use while he has the chance. This is a good thing. Code d’ Ode promotes intense sexual exploration.

Pleasure and pain
It is a matter of common experience that there is no real hard and fast dividing line between pleasure and pain. While we think of pleasure and pain as opposites, often they seem to complement each other, or are interchangeable. Pleasures can be excruciating, pain can be delicious. But pleasure/pain responses in individuals differ markedly. There are some people who need pain to feel pleasure. There are others for whom any sort of pain kills all sensations of pleasure. People are wired differently. There is no across the board “norm”.
Accordingly, there are types of sexual play that cater to different types of people and different responses. For example, sado-masochistic play (SM) caters to people who enjoy or need pain for erotic fulfillment. Pain is their pleasure. It excites them. It is what they enjoy. Many submissives need the experience of pain in order to “zone” into a fully submissive state. The psychology of these responses is well understood.
But there are others – the majority, as it happens – who experience pleasure and pain as a polarity and so for whom pain kills (rather than deepens or enhances) pleasure. When they experience pain, it kills their libido. Pain is a turn off. So they find it hard to conceive of erotic pain. Nor do they experience intense pleasure as a type of pain. They are wired on/off. It is either pleasure or pain, but never both. Obviously, such people are not suited to sado-masochistic play. They will not use pain to further their pleasures. Their pursuit of erotic fulfillment will be hedonistic rather than sado-masochistic.
Code d’ Odalisque is a code of consensual slave play for women of the second type. Odalisques are protected from sado-masochism. The mode of play is hedonistic. It suits women who love sexual submission but who do not enjoy pain.
The advantage of using pain in sex play is that it is a fast track into deeper levels of submission. People (organisms) will readily submit to pain. Since pain is not used as a tool in Code d’ Odalisque other methods – psychological manipulations – are used to reach deeper layers of submission.
Any sort of developed hedonism must extend from simple pleasures of the flesh to pleasures of the imagination and the mind. Code d’ Odalisque seeks intensities of sexual pleasure – attained without the use of pain – as well as refined aesthetic pleasures such as the visual enjoyment of the naked female form.

Slave positions - a place to start
The natural place to start the practice of Code d' Odalisque is the slavepositions. Many of these are described in the written Code. They have different purposes. Some are for display - they facilitate the display of the slave's body to her Keeper. Some are for instruction. Some are for sexual access.
Note that Code d' Ode does not employ any military themes and so does not use military or quasi-military slave positions such as standing at attention.

12.14. - The use of masks
The use of masks, eye-masks and veils and other devices that preserve an atmosphere of enigma and that underline the essential anonymity of players and the fantasy character of play, for both slave and male players (gentlemen), is characteristic of play under this Code. The fullest expression of this theme is in the formal masque.
Virginity
In Code d' Odalisque the word "virginity" has a technical meaning different than common usage. In Code d' Ode, "virginity" is a measure of the slave's worth (on the theoretical slave market.) In fact, it is a measure of her physical condition and hence of the amount of wear and tear there has been on her body. It thus means more than just having her hymen ruptured in sexual intercourse.
6.3. - Definition of virginity
Under this Code "virginity" is the quality of physical innocence in a female. It is not a state once lost but a quality that diminishes through the course of life.
A young woman is inherently virgin. The things that decrease her "virginity" are such things as:
*Childbirth
*Suckling of children
*Pregnancy (even where it does not reach term)
*Marriage
There is also wear and tear on her skin and teeth to consider. Scars, burns, blemishes - these decrease her value and decrease her "virgin" quality. Wear on teeth, cavities, fillings, extractions, dentures - these decrease her value, decrease her virgin quality.
6.4. - Things that diminish a woman's virginity
The virginity of a female is diminished with age, and when she marries, when she is married for any duration, when she falls pregnant, when she gives birth, when she suckles, when her teeth wear and whenever her body is blemished by age or injury or use.
Note that the sexual activity of the woman don't impact upon her "virginity". She can be wildly sexual but it has no impact upon her "virginity" unless she becomes pregnant or other such events ensue from that activity.
Again, "virginity" is a measure of the pristine sexuality of the woman's body. Mainly, it is use of her reproductive system that diminishes the quality of "virginity".
There is a set procedure in Code d' Ode for examining and valuing a slave. The quality that is being assessed is called "virginity". (See article 6.5)
Odalisques should be assessed and graded and given a value (on the theoretical slave market) according to their "virginity".

Sexual captivity
An odalisque is held in a state of “occlusion”. This means she is a sexual captive, held in captivity, separate from and secret from the world. She lives in her own world, an interior world of comfort and luxury, where she is devoted to one purpose: the provision of sensual/sexual delight for her Master. Her nakedness is in contrast to her occlusion. She is covered (occluded) from the world, but in herself she is essentially naked. She lives behind closed doors, but in the world behind closed doors she is fully exposed – barefoot and naked.
The practicalities of keeping an odalisque in this manner are considerable but not insurmountable. A Slavekeeper will need to provide a comfortable space for the odalisque. It must be warm. It should have good bathing facilities. But it must be private. It is, in fact, a secret prison. A luxury prison. For the odalisque is held in captivity. An odalisque must be kept away from prying eyes. Her accommodation must be hidden. That is the whole meaning of occlusion – she is kept as a treasure secret from the world.
In part, separation from the world is achieved by regulation of the slave’s sleeping. She tends to sleep during the day and be awake through the night. She is a creature of the night. (Just as a whore is a creature of the night. Night and sex are a natural match.) She sleeps while the world is awake.
The problems of keeping her naked are the same problems faced by nudists and ‘naturists’. Slavekeepers should consult websites from nudist/naturist enthusiasts to see how they adapt their naked lifestyle to particular regions and climates.

A prototype of Code d' Odalisque is the sex game called 'Blonde in the Basement'. It is an abduction fantasy for consenting couples. To play, take your wife and lock her in the basement (or equivalent). Strip her naked and tie her up. Tell friends and neighbors that she's gone to visit her Aunt Gladys for a few days. During this time keep her as a secret naked sexual captive and have your wicked way with her as you like.

Attire - nakedness
In the Gorean genre of slavery there is a complete attire that goes with the fantasy. There are specified slavegirl costumes. There are even Gorean foods and table manners. Gorean offers a complete lifestyle.
Code D' Odalisque is a different genre of erotic slavery. Gorean replicates aspects of the pre-Christian European barbarian slavekeeping culture (when men were real men and women were real women). It replicates pagan slavekeeping. It is a beautiful and noble lifestyle, but the author of the Gorean novels, John Norman, has obviously drawn upon features of ancient Ostrogothic and Celtic culture. In the Gorean genre, women are essentially kept as animals. Gorean training is animal training. A slave is like a loyal dog.
Code D' Odalisque draws upon different historical models. It draws upon the luxuriant and sensuous slavekeeping cultures of the ancient and medieval Near East. In these cultures you find the dedicated cockslave, the odalisque. Rather than a common dog, the cockslave is like a rare and exotic pet.
Since she is dedicated to sex the odalisque is essentially naked. She does not need to wear clothing. Clothing is to protect the body while working. The odalisque does not work. She fucks.
Nor is she dressed like a slut or a whore. She does not need to advertise. Sluts and whores dress as they do to attract male attention and to advertise their goods. But an odalisque has a Master and so does not need to spruik her wares.
So she is naked and barefooted - dressed for her purpose - which is to provide her Master with the visual delights of the female form and to be a willing agent in his sexual dreams.
In classical depictions of odalisques they are almost always naked, or they half-clothe themselves with a simple cloth wrap, or - more often - with a see-through wrap or veil.
The attire of the odalisque is always supplementary to her nakedness. She is never really clothed. Veils, wraps, shawls only serve to obscure her nakedness, but she remains naked.
The attire of an odalisque ORNAMENTS her nakedness without covering it. Typically, she wears jewellery without clothing. She wears decorative bands, rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, ankle bracelets, but no garments - or very slight garments that do not really cover her.
What clothes and ornaments a slave wears is at the direction of her Master. He will of course allow her to a shawl to keep herself warm, as necessary. But he should respect the fact that she is an odalisque, and respect her nakedness and not dress her as a worker or maid or a prostitute, things she is not.
So, unlike Gorean slaveplay - where a slavegirl has a specific attire - the odalisque is essentially without garments because her business is sex. She doesn't need to protect her body like a worker and she doesn't need to advertise and attract attention like a whore or slut. It is especially important not to confuse an odalisque with a slut or a whore.
Nudity and nakedness are important to the institution of odalisque. Her nakedness is one of the things that distinguishes an odalisque from lower slaves. Her nakedness is her essence. In the odalisque's life a woman will spend much of her time laying around naked, being naked. She should enjoy her nakedness and display it to her Keeper.
CONSIDER THIS:
Why do human beings have less body hair than other primates? And why do women have less body hair than men?
The answer to this is that the human body has evolved away from hairiness in order to make the human skin more sensitive. This makes human beings more sexual and erotic creatures than other primates. The whole skin has become an erotic organ. This is not the case in lower primates - their skin is far less sensitive and is covered in hair.
When human beings have sex the body-to-body and skin-to-skin contact is erotic in itself. This is not the case in lower primates. Their sexuality is localised to their genitals. In human beings the sexual response is distributed throughout the body. The whole skin is an erotic zone.
So, human beings have greater physical erogeneity than other primates and, by extension, human females are more erotic in this sense than human males. The female body has evolved into a complete, hairless errogenous zone by comparison with apes and men.
This is why the odalisque is naked. The institution of the odalisque acknowledges and celebrates this turn of events in human evolution. It celebrates woman as the ultimate sexual creature of nature.

This is why the odalisque is naked. The institution of the odalisque acknowledges and celebrates this turn of events in human evolution. It celebrates woman as the ultimate sexual creature of nature.

How vanilla is it?
Question: How vanilla is Code d' Odalisque?
Answer: As vanilla as you like, or as bent as you like. The concern of the Code at all points to that the odalisque should be treated as an odalisque. Not as a beast of burden. Not as a maid. Not as a whipping bag. Not as a slut. Not as a whore. So as long as she is treated with the respect due to an odalisque - a very precious creature - she can be used for whatever erotic purposes her Master proposes. Her very purpose is to be a fantasy slave. A man uses an odalisque to explore his sexuality. This can involve exploration of extremes - subject to the contractual limits set by the slave.
By default, Code d' Ode is not sado-masochistic. An odalisque is a pleasure slave and the mode of play is hedonistic. But just because the dimension of pain is excluded from play does not mean Code d' Ode need be tame and vanilla. An odalisque can be used to explore the extremes of pleasure. Methods other than pain are used. Within the limits of play there is huge scope for imaginative and creative sexuality. There is an emphasis on psychological methods of control.
The Code specifically forbids such things as bestiality and pedophilia - that doesn't make it vanilla. How hardcore you play, how far you go, and what kinks you pursue is entirely up to you. As long as the basic framework of the Code - and the principles of safety, consent and legality - are maintained, and the slave is respected as an odalisque. It can be as gentle and lightweight or as full-on and hardcore as you want to make it. It is up to you.
Code d' Odalisque is offered free and is promoted in the public domain. People are free to take what they want from it and are always free to adapt it to their needs. You are always free to adapt it to include your particular kink.
It will also appeal to so-called "vanilla" people because of its ambience of respect and chivalry, and its emphasis on consent, safety and legality. It is a good option for people whose tastes are pretty straight. (And why not. There's nothing wrong with good old-fashioned straight sex, is there?)

What is discalcing?
Question: What is discalcing?
Answer: Discalcing means "to remove shoes". In Code d' Odalisque it is the technical term for when a freewoman becomes a slave. The process of initiation is called her "discalcing". This is because, at the time when she signs her contract of submission and agrees to be an odalisque, she must remove her shoes and hand them over to the Slavetrader or presiding male at the ritual. A slave is barefoot. A slave is discalced. Freewomen wear shoes. Cockslaves are barefooted, unshod. A slave's bare feet are an object of fetishistic beauty in Code d' Odalisque. Her bare feet symbolize the essence of her slavery. To say that a woman has been discalced means that she has become an odalisque (cockslave).
By extension "discalcing" also means the training process by which a slave is taught the difference between freewoman and slave. Any technique that teaches and reniforces this difference is part of her on-going discalcing. There are levels of slavery, levels of submission. Discalcing is an on-going process. The trainer goes deeper and deeper taking the slave further and further from the state of the freewoman she had been.
By extension the removal of shoes is also a ritual stripping. When a freewoman becomes a cockslave she hands over her shoes and then she is ritually stripped. The training process (discalcing) continues this. First her clothes are stripped from her, but the discalcing process strips her of deeper veils and inhibitions. The discalcing process in this system of slavetraining extends the slave's nakedness to deeper and deeper levels.
(The other training process in Code d' Odalisque is called "unslutting". It complements the discalcing process.)

The Fast of Love
Cock worship is inseperable from semen worship to some extent, for obvious reasons. If a woman adores cock then she will be just as obsessed with its liquid essence, the seed of life. The cockworshipper loves cock and loves cum. Semen is her sacrament, her exilir. Various types of cum play are therefore a natural aspect of cockworship.
A game in Code d' Ode is the Fast of Love. It is simple. The slave is placed on a fast. She breaks the fast by sucking her Master's cock and drinking his cum.
We use the more severe style of fasting still used in the Near East world. No food. No drinks. Nothing may enter the body but air. Not even water. This is only maintained for short periods, though. Otherwise it can be dangerous. 12 hours is the maximum.
Let the slave fast for - say - eight hours. She must remain awake and not eat or drink. A more severe form also forbids speaking.
Her Master sets an appointed time at which she may break her fast. When the time comes she approaches her Master, worships at his cock and drinks his seed - the first thing to enter her body, her first food or drink, after the fast.
Other styles of fasting that allow water are not so effective. Best are short, severe fasts. Six hours. Eight hours. Twelve max. A Slavemaster should know his slave's limits and stay within them. At the end of the fast the slave then gobbles cock and devours her Master's cum. The fasting will usually incite a special desperation in the slave.
The idea here is to marry lust with hunger and thirst. Make them into one yearning. Throughout the fast let the slave contemplate the joy that will be worshipping her Master's cock and tasting his seed at the fast's end. Needless to say if the slave shows any signs of being made ill from fasting or it threatens her health - end the fast. Safety first. This game can be extended to a captivity scene. The slave can be confined to a small space or cage as well.
Fasting imposes a self-discipline upon the slave and at the same time feeds her desires. As always, a cockslave is both disciplined and debauched. Short fasts can preceed sex play sessions. Let a slave fast for several hours before going to please her Master. It is a simple technique but can be used to great effect. breaking a fast on her Master's semen can be a special experience for a cockwoprshipping woman.

Fantasy Projection
What is an odalisque for? Why would a man want to own one? What does a man do with one?
The short answer to these questions is that an odalisque is for FANTASY PROJECTION. An odalisque exists so that men can explore their sexual fantasies. The odalisque is a passive materia upon which the male (Slavekeeper) projects his "inner female", his inner fantasy woman. The odalisque makes herself - and allows herself to be made into - the woman of her Keeper's dreams. An odalisque does not pursue her own fantasies. She makes herself a willing puppet to be used in her Keeper's fantasies. Her task is to make herself into the fantasy female her Keeper has always dreamed about.
This "inner female" is the female men create in their fantasy life from puberty onwards. When an adolescent or older man masturbates, for example, he imagines it is a woman - not his hand - pleasuring his cock. And this fantasy woman is an all-sexual, cock-worshipping, obedient female - a perfect cockslave. Every healthy, heterosexual boy builds up an inner life based around this fantasy female. In Code d' Ode the man projects this inner female onto his consenting slave who becomes the embodiment of his fantasy female, a realisation of his sexual dreams.
The odalisque is willing to be his all-sexual female within. That is her job. That is her obligation to her Keeper.
A good slave will learn all she can about her Keeper's inner female and do all she can to bring his fantasy female to life. For a Slavekeeper, an odalisque is an opportunity to uncover his inner sexual female, to explore his fantasy world, to actualise his sexual psychology, to learn more about himself and the wellsprings of his sexuality.
Note - this is different than "power exchange" in true dom/sub scenes. The basis of Code d' Ode is "fantasy projection" not "power exchange".

Heterosexual?
We receive many email comments from people with gay or bisexual preferences as to why Code d’ Ode is presented as a purely heterosexual adult “game”. Is there room in it for other sexual preferences? they ask.
The answer is that in its present form - and following directly from its historical precedents - Code d’ Ode is resoundingly hetero and unashamedly celebrates male/female sexual desire. It follows quite traditional forms. It is hetero and it is male dom. There is nothing to prevent others from adapting it to other sexual preferences but in its present form it reflects the orientation and interests of the people who wrote the Code, as well as the traditions of the historical institution of ‘odalisque’.
We hasten to add that just because the Code in its present form is hetero, this does not mean it is anti-homo. Each to their own. There is a lively gay Master/slave community to service the needs of gay subs and doms. Code d’ Odalisque is designed to offer another alternative, and it has the specific aim of offering hetero sub women a non-violent alternative to the dominant styles of BDSM. It has a mission to such women. It is very consciously and deliberately based around reviving the institution of female odalisque. If others would like to extend it into homosexual forms, all the best to them.
It should also be said that the driving force behind Code play is COCKWORSHIP and as this is understood in Code d’ Ode it is essentially a female’s love of and fascination for the phallus. This love and fascination has to do with the cock as OTHER to the feminine, and so, by definition, only a female (a non-male) can experience this. A woman can NEVER know what it is like to have a cock. The phallus must ALWAYS seem strange and ‘other’ to her in a way that is not true of a man who does know what having a cock is like. That is to say, cocks are not such strange and remote objects to men because they have one. But they are necessarily strange and remote objects to women who have no first-hand understanding of what it is like to be a phallic being (man).
It follows that - as it is conceived in Code d’ Ode - a man is not really capable of true cockworship. The fulcrum of worship is the strange OTHERNESS of cock to the female, and a man is not capable of it because cock is not Other to him. In Code d’ Ode a woman worships cock because it is everything she is not. No man can say this about himself and so cannot really worship in the sense understood in Code d’ Ode.
No doubt lots of gay guys will disagree and claim that they fully worship cock. But that is a different thing, a different mode of worship. The cock is SELF to man. It is only to woman that it is forever OTHER. The proper response to COCK by a cockslave is to become CUNT, to make herself a cunt to be fucked and used. Again, a man cannot do this - he doesn’t have a cunt. That is the physical reality. We make no apology for asserting that COCK and CUNT are a matching set.
Despite this very hetero orientation, there is plenty of room in Code d’ Ode for same-sex play if that is what players are into. A woman may specialize in bi-sex play as an ambiphiline, in order to satisfy the male lesbian fantasy. And there is nothing stopping a Slavekeeper being bisexual and to include M/M play into his orgia. There is nothing homophobic about Code d’ Ode’s heterosexual orientation. If players want to introduce same-sex play - it certainly extends the range of sexual possibilities to explore! - then there is nothing in Code d’ Odalisque to prevent it.
In the first instance, though, Code d’ Ode is for cunt crazy males and cock crazy women. The motive force of play is the Slavekeeper’s pursuit of phallic pleasure and the slave’s devoted worship of mysterious COCK.

Creating Networks
Question: Can you connect me with people in my area who are into Code d’ Odalisque?
Answer: Probably not. The formal Code has been around for about ten years but it is only in the last few years that it has been propagated through the World Wide Web. There are now some places in the world where there is a local “scene” but otherwise followers of the Code are scattered.
There is certainly a growing community world-wide. By any estimation hundreds of couples enjoy this lifestyle –and many more if we include casual players. But the chances that there is an active scene of Coders living a developed Master/odalisque lifestyle near where you live are at present remote.
So this means you will have to create your own fun. Why not start a local scene? Local people probably haven’t encountered Code d’ Odalisque yet. But you can be sure that it will be attractive to some local people – female submissives, dominant males, etc. Why not promote it locally? Join local networks and look for people who share your interest in this style of slave play.
If you are enterprising and persistent it would probably only take you twelve months to gather a small circle of local people. Open it up to anyone who is curious. Stir up some interest. Remember, lots of couples already play their own bedroom slave games. They'll be interested.
We think that there is a great potential for Code d’ Odalisque. There are many people who are looking for this sort of thing as an alternative to the mainstream BDSM flavors. The Code and all the supplementary information is free and available on-line. Why not learn about it and get something happening in your local networks? Start a club. Start a yahoo group. Create a web site. Start a blog. Promote the Code through your local networks any way you can.
Of course, if you are successful in this you will then find yourself at the hub of an expanding circle of adults – men and women – who are all devoted to sexual slave games. An enviable position to be in. That can only be fun!
In short, as they say, take the mountain to Mohammed. If there is no local interest in Code d’ O then create it. Be confident that there are people like you who will think that Code d’ O is a damn good idea. People will get on board, but it takes creative and energetic people at a local level to get networks of players started.
If you want support in your endeavors, free promotion materials etc. write to:

Notes on the Odalisque's Life
During her time in occlusion an odalisque will not spend all of her time in active play. In fact, sex play would normally constitute only a small portion of an odalisque’s time - at least in “real time” Master/slave arrangements. At other times - when not serving sexually - she is a kept slave and enjoys a life of relative ease and luxury. Even if her Master demands her services every night, what does she do during her days?
The first answer to this is - she sleeps. An odalisque will normally sleep several hours more than a busy working person. She is the sort of woman who loves sleep and will sleep for ten or more hours. She lazes snug and naked in bed. She spends a lot of her time just lazing in her bed. On the whole, in fact, she is lazy. The true odalisque type is lazy and enjoys doing nothing. She lazes on the divan and elsewhere in the house, casually displaying her naked beauty as an ornament for her Master. She day-dreams or reads and enjoys her nakedness.
Apart from this life of gentle indolence, however, she must keep herself groomed according to her Master’s standards. Her hair, teeth, eyelashes, face, nails, skin, pussy... she must keep her body clean and well-maintained at all times. A certain amount of grooming is needed every day. It can take up a lot of an odalisque’s time. This includes showering and bathing, spas and saunas.
As well as this “toilette”, the slave must more generally look after her body by way of diet and exercise. An hour of yoga every day will keep her body supple and toned. She might be permitted to go swimming once or twice a week, or maybe her Master has a pool and she can swim daily? Or other suitable exercise. Her lazy and opulent lifestyle needs to be restrained by a regime of physical care and exercise in order to keep her body in an attractive and able state for her Master’s enjoyment.
A slave is also allowed her own entertainments in her apartment (odella) to occupy her time. This depends on what her Keeper provides but might include TV, radio, computer, internet, music. A slave in occlusion does not need excessive stimulation in this regard, but some provision for entertainment in an odella is the norm. Often live media - TV, radio, internet - are avoided because they bring too much “real world” into the slave’s isolation. Instead, the slave is given music CDs and DVD movies by her Master, and even then old music and old movies are preferred because they do not bring the current “real world” into the isolation of the odella.
A Keeper might also provide materials and support to encourage his slave to pursue a suitable pastime such as practising a musical instrument. Classical and feminine instruments - the violin or flute rather than the bass drum or tuba - are preferred. A cockslave need not neglect all her non-sexual talents while in occlusion. If she is a pianist and has practised every day since the age of seven, a Slavekeeper should provide her with a piano to continue with her music.
Finally, periods of occlusion can be punctuated with periods of “sojourn” when the slave goes back into the world like a freewoman. A slave might have a part-time job several days a week or might undertake study or have some other reason to spend days in sojourn. Her Master might let her walk to the public library once a week, or go walking in the park. Arrangements will entirely depend upon the needs of Master and slave. Some women have a greater capacity for isolation than others. Genuine odalisques love occlusion and thrive in captivity.
Needless to say, a Master may set his slave a routine of daily tasks to perform by way of slavetraining. This will usually include practise of the Code d’ Odalisque slave positions and commands and other finer points of etiquette. The slave will later be tested on these points and is expected to be elegant and well-drilled.
An odalisque (in contrast to lower slaves) can eat at table with her Master, and she must be given the same quality food as her Master. These are great privileges. She can spend time with her Master at table in conversation and enjoy food with him. There are other occasions when she has non-sexual interaction with her Master.
And an odalisque may also have an Overmistress who may visit or ring her on a regular basis. Indeed, a slave and Overmistress may conduct a close relationship independent of the Slavekeeper.
A generous Master will pay for his slave to receive such physical fine-tuning as Swedish massage and pedicure or similar, now and then. Or he might pay for her music lessons or French lessons. A Slavekeeper has an obligation to nurture his slave. Odalisque slavery is not about degrading and demoralising a woman - an odalisque is to be nurtured and refined.
All the same, there is no need to pamper her excessively and no need to render her more psychologically complex by developing sides of her personality that might conflict with or complicate her role as cockslave. A cockslave needs to be simple. Her isolation is a condition suited to developing MONOMANIA in a slave. Specifically, this monomania takes the form of a fixation upon phallic worship.
Code d’ Ode doesn’t resort to pain and torture and SM to reach into the deeper layers of the slave’s being, so instead Slavekeepers use psychological training methods. Isolation is one of them. During isolation, the mentality and desires of the slave - all her energies - can be redirected onto the single fixation - COCK. The phallocentric slave. Phallic fixation is proper for a cockslave. A Slavekeeper will use the periods of the slave’s occlusion to channel her energies into a single focus - her obsession with cock. He can rightly fill her days with methods and exercises that are designed to imbue her with this monomania. This is the art of Slavetraining in Code d’ Ode - directing the slave’s beauty and grace and spirit and zeal and heat into a deep and genuine cockworship.
Under Code d’ Odalisque a Slavekeeper has an obligation not to let his cockslave go unused. He is urged to make use of her often. And it is in the spirit of the Code (subject to her contractual limits) for her Master to share her with other men (guests). Sexual generosity is a virtue in Slavekeepers. A man who is so fortunate as to own an odalisque has an ethical obligation to share her with others not as fortunate as himself - usually his selected close friends. Where a slave is consenting, a circle of gentlemen can form around an odalisque. She always remains the property of her Owner and Master, but she will happily serve her Master’s guests if that is his bidding. Where a slave is an orgophon and specialises in group play, it is essential that her Master forms a circle of other players around his odalisque.
So an odalisque can expect active service in her slavehood and will not usually be left in her odella for days on end without her services being required. Service to cock, in any case, is what she lives for. That’s why she is an odalisque. When she is not serving cock she is usually preparing herself to better serve cock by catching some beauty sleep, grooming herself, exercising, bathing, toning. Otherwise she lazes, or busies herself with a routine of activities that enhance and refine her. For a woman of the right temperament it is a rich and full lifestyle.
MODELS OF MASCULINITY
The female slave in Code D' Ode is an exclusive cockslave. She is in this respect different than femslaves in other genres or systems of consensual slavery. Much consensual slavery is based on the "A Dog is a Man's best friend" ethos. The slave is a well-trained animal. The slavemaster is like a dog owner. He trains his dog. A good dog will sit obediently at his feet and sleep on her mat in the corner.
The Master/slave relationship is different in Code D' Ode. The genre is based upon different historical models. The cockslave is the trade of a wealthy, urbane and genteel culture.
Consequently, the model of masculinity in Code D' Ode is different. It is a genre of slavery that is adapted to a different or wider range of men than other contemporary genres.
In early historical models the fact that a man commands a slave is sign of his virility. It means he has captured a slave. She is a testimony to his hunting skills. She is a prize to the succesful Hunter/Gatherer. Or she is a sign of his natural superiority. He commands her because he is man enough to do so.
But in advanced slavekeeping cultures the keeping of a slave merely becomes a sign of wealth. A man owns a cockslave because he can afford one. The slave becomes an emblem of social and economic status, not of virility and authority.
This is the case in the modern world. The modern man keeps a cockslave as a luxury item. The modern slavekeeper is the succesful urban man who can afford to keep and enjoy a cockslave.
This means there is not real, fixed "Master" type. In the contemporary scene one encounters a lot of discussion about "true Masters" - men with a "Master's" psychology. This is less of an issue in Code D' Ode. There is no "true Master" type, although there are obviously some men who will handle use of a cockslave better than others.
In general, though, Code D' Ode does not promote a fixed, defined type of masculinity. But it does promote two things as "norms":
1. The sexual dominance of man over woman.
2. Heterosexuality
The Slavemaster in Code D' Ode is at least man enough to accept the conventional Male/Female roles without wincing with political correctness. He knows how to be boss. Sensitive New age Guys are excluded on these grounds.
And Slavemasters in Code D' Ode are red-blooded cunt-struck heterosexuals and make no apology about it. Gay slavery is fine, but why should gays have all the fun?
Different Masculine Cultures
Old Guard
The so-called "Old Guard" style of contemporary slavery is adapted to the military man. It is for the male Dom who likes to give orders and live within a chain of command. (A lot of gay M/s relationships follow this genre.)
Gorean
The so-called Gorean genre of contemporary slavery is adapted to the rugged pioneering type. It is for the alpha-male hunter/gatherer. It is strictly heterosexual and tends to celebrates testosterone-laden masculinity.
Code D' Ode
This genre is more suited to the contemporary urban male, not the Soldier or the Hunter but the CEO, the corporate He-man, the succesful business pirate, the corporate raider, the robber-barons of Walls St. Secure in his wealth, he can search for new pleasures.

A GUIDE TO CONTRACT
Code d' Odalisque offers a framework of quasi-legal contract in which contemporary couples may play Master/slave lifetstyle and games. Here is a summary of some simple principles of contract:
ALL CONTRACTS MUST BE SIGNED BY THREE PARTIES
1. When a cockslave enters slavery she signs a general CONTRACT OF SUBMISSION. This sets the broad parameters of her slavery.
2. A cockslave may make a PLEA FOR MERCY at any time after making her CONTRACT OF SUBMISSION. A Plea for Mercy is a contract that makes more exact and specific limits than the Contract of Submission.
3. A CONTRACT OF SUBMISSION cannot be modified once it is signed.
4. A PLEA FOR MERCY always rules over a CONTRACT OF SUBMISSION. A recent PLEA FOR MERCY rules over all prior ones.
5. Another recognized licit contract in Code d' Ode is the RELEASE FOR TRAINING by which a Slavekeeper releases his slave to a Slavetrainer for particular and specified training.
The important distinction is between a CONTRACT OF SUBMISSION and a PLEA FOR MERCY.
CONTRACT OF SUBMISSION = a general statement of sexual submission made by the slave at the beginning of her slavery. It is a fixed contract that has forced throughout the whole duration of her erotic slavery, regardless of to which Master she may belong. It sets out what are sometimes called her "hard limits".
PLEA FOR MERCY = a more specific contract that sets the slaves limits in particular scenes or for particular occasions. A slave will usually make a PLEA FOR MERCY to her new Slavekeeper when she is first purchased.
A slave makes a CONTRACT OF SUBMISSION to a Slavetrader.
A slave makes a PLEA FOR MERCY to her Slavemaster (Slavekeeper) or others placed in charge of her.
A further recognized type of contract is the PROMISE OF PEARLS made by a Slavemaster to his slave. In this document a Slavemaster will make a written promise to present his slave with black pearls if she completes the list of Ordeals itemized in the written contract. A PROMISE OF PEARLS is a Table of Ordeals where the Master sets out what he wants the slave to do in order to win her pearls. The slave must consent to the articles of the written PROMISE OF PEARLS, i.e. her program of Ordeals.
Formal Requirements
For a contract to be licit in Code d' Ode it must be signed by three parties. This is the minimum requirement. A contract signed by only the Slavekeeper and the slave has no force.
A further formal requirement is that all contracts must conclude with the words, clearly visible in upper case: CONSENT. SAFETY. LEGALITY. The signatories to the contract must sign their names directly under these words.
Code d' Ode seeks to make these firm standards of contractual practice in consensual erotic slavery. Current practice is ad hoc.

Man is her Master, cock is her god!
An aspect of Code d’ Odalisque that is often misunderstood, especially by females, is the relationship between Master and slave and why - as the motto says - “Man is her Master but cock is her god!” What does this mean? What are the practical implications?
In much consensual slavery the female slave is led to form an extreme reverence for her Master. This goes far beyond the requirements of loyalty and obedience - it often takes the form of cultic worship. The slave, that is, reveres her Master as if he is a god. She loves him as a devotee loves a guru. The Slavemaster is idolized. In many cases, Masters expect this level of devotion - their slaves are expected to humble themselves as if before a god.
But Code d’ Odalisque does not indulge in this kind of personality cult. Instead, a slave’s devotion should be fixed upon COCK and not upon her Master. She must obey and be loyal to her Master. She is his servant. She obeys him and serves him.
But an odalisque is not expected to regard her Master as a god, merely as her owner and therefore the man she serves. Her god - the object of her devotion - is COCK. She is devoted to serving cock. That is, she is devoted to providing sexual pleasure. Her constant wish is that her Master lets her serve his cock. Cock is her focus. Her Master isn’t the focus of her devotion. He is the focus of her obedience, yes, but not of her devotion.
That is, she is not expected to give her heart and soul to her Master. Nor is she expected to love him. She just needs to respect him, obey him and be loyal to him at all times. But - as a cockslave - she must LOVE cock and give her heart and soul to cock. She is phallocentric. She thinks about cock, dreams about cock, drools about cock. Her mind is not flooded with her Master’s personality. She does not obsess about him. He understands that she is fixated upon cock. His job, as Slavekeeper to an odalisque, is to manage, manipulate, direct, orchestrate, exploit and above all ENJOY her cock fixation.
So this is a somewhat different arrangement than Master/slave relationships in other genres of consensual slavery. Slavekeepers are expected to keep their egos under control and not to place themselves at the centre of a slave’s devotions. A femsub has a natural (and beautiful) capacity for veneration, devotion and similar emotional states. In Code d’ Ode this should be directed to phallic worship and not to the person of the Master. The Master, rather, is one who controls and develops the slave’s fixations and phallic obsessions. The crucial thing is that he earns, and she extends to him, TRUST. Trust, as in any form of slave play, is the magic ingredient.

A SIMULATED SLAVE ECONOMY
Code d' Ode includes a simulated slave economy. Legality is a first principle, so slavetrading is entirely simulated and no money changes hands between active players at any juncture. But a simulated trade operates as follows:
*Before purchase cockslaves are graded and priced. They are very expensive items! They are the most expensive of all slaves.
*A slave should demand that she be purchased, not taken freely like a slut. She is proud to be purchased.
*But her owner can "opt" to "commute" the slaveprice to alms. This means he makes a donation to charity instead. The purchase is only token (and indirect).
*Only some charities are acceptable for alms. These are: campaigns against child labour, forced prostitution and female genital mutilation, and all forms of non-consensual slavery. (You can't make a donation to your golf club and call it alms. It has to be directed to an appropriate cause.)
*The slavewoman has the right to nominate the organisation to which she wants her new owner to "commute the slaveprice to alms."
*The slaveowner has the right to decide the sum he will pay in alms to the charity his slave has nominated. Symbolically speaking he has paid the full price and the slave can wear her price with pride.
*A slaveowner is not required to reveal to his slave the actual sum of alms he has paid, nor is he required to give proof of payment to the slave or to anyone else. It is enough that he says to his new slave that he has "commuted the slave price to alms" with the charity of her choice.
*This constitutes full payment.
*It is improper for either slave or Keeper to ever mention either the fact or the sum of payment in any context again. It is a taboo topic in Code d' Ode play.
*It is a voluntary code. Men of good conscience will acknowledge that owning a cockslave is a rare privilege in life and will happily make a generous donation to a worthy cause in lieu of the slaveprice. This legitimizes the bond over his slave.
*Honesty is a cardinal virtue in a Slavekeeper. So when a man says "I have paid the slaveprice" (by way of a token donation to an appropriate charity) then we expect he is reporting the truth. It would be poisonous to begin a Keeper/slave relationship with a lie.
*It is the intent of Code d' Ode to foster and protect odalisques at all times. The whole Code works against illegal slavetrading, forced prostitution and exploitation.
*Odalisques are urged to demand that their owners pay the slave price. She should ask, "Am I to be taken for free like a slut?" An odalisque should SHAME her owner into paying a price for her.
*A key quality in a Slavetrader is the urge to protect and nurture odalisques. Such a man will abhor the ruthless maltreatment of beautiful, erotic women at the hands of underworld rackets and will happily give to charities that are devoted to helping such women. There are thousands of them in forced prostitution in the United States!
*There are no obstacles to players holding (consensual) slave auctions or auctions-for-service so long as ALL proceeds go to an appropriate charity.
*Code d' Ode seeks to create a high-class, luxury, consensual cockslave culture where play incidentally assists charity work that is devoted to eradicating forms of non-consensual sex slavery.

Occlusion and Sojourn
People in the “scene” will often speak of “real time” slaves as distinct from merely casual players, or will distinguish between lifestylers and mere hobbyists. In Code d’ Odalisque these distinctions are covered by the concepts of OCCLUSION and SOJOURN. Whether a player is “real time” and is living “The Lifestyle” or not depends upon the amount of time she spends in OCCLUSION as opposed to how much time she spends in SOJOURN.
Occlusion is the state of captivity when an odalisque is in active service to her Master. She spends this time naked and barefoot, a willing live-in cockslave. At other times, though, she may be allowed to go out into the world like a freewoman. Such times are called Sojourn. A 24/7 RT slave spends her time entirely in occlusion and never goes on sojourn. On the other hand, a part-time “hobby” slave will spend only a short time in occlusion and will otherwise spend most of her time on sojourn.
In this way, Code d’ Ode is very flexible. The rules of the Code are made with full-time serious players in mind. But the Code is easily adapted to those people who merely want to role-play now and then. Full-time occlusion (with only short and occasional periods in sojourn) is the ideal for a true odalisque, but a wide range of other arrangements are possible. It is fair to say that modern women are less inclined to spend 100% of their time in occlusion when compared to odalisques of past eras. Under Code d’ Ode a woman can spend 4 days a week in occlusion serving her Master and three days a week in sojourn doing a University degree or working in an office. The balance between occlusion and sojourn is to be determined by agreement between Master and slave and can change according to circumstance.
It should be stressed that a slave on sojourn is NOT a freewoman. She is still a slave and is still bonded to her Master, and there is a code of behaviour for her to follow whilst away on sojourn. And it also needs to be said that a true odalisque under a competent Master will yearn for longer periods of occlusion and will cherish the times when her captive service is uninterupted by the other concerns of life.
We resist all forms of “scene” snobbishness in which full-timers sneer at and belittle part-time players. Every M/s couple can make the arrangements that suit them.

In response to some emails here are a few points on women and gender relations in Code d’ Ode, specifically answering the notion that Code d’ Ode might be evil and sexist:
1. A man purchases an odalisque because he loves woman. Slavekeepers in Code d’ Ode are resoundingly heterosexual - they love women. There is no room for women-haters in Code d’ Ode and there is nothing misogynistic about it. The whole tenor of the Code is about protecting and supporting women, about giving rights and a safety network to women who choose to be involved in adult sex slave games, and about the appreciation of the female form and female sexuality. Odalisques are treasured and regarded with great respect and celebrated for what they are.
2. Slaves are treated as slaves in Code d’ Odalisque because they are slaves and not because they are females. Females, per se, are not lesser than men in Code d’ Ode. But slaves, per se, are (obviously) lesser than both freemen and freewomen. There is nothing in Code d’ Ode that suggests that all men should be Masters over all women or that equates woman with slave. Because all odalisques are women, it does not follow that all women are odalisques.
3. No male player has any reason to regard a freewoman as a lesser being. Among freemen and freewomen, male and female are happily equal if they wish to be. There is no theoretical claim that males are superior to females, only that slaves should serve Masters.
Nevertheless, the Code does propose that:
“The dominance of human males over human females is biologically sanctioned even if it is not a sociological constant.” - 1.16
There are two things here: biology and sociology. Biology is the purely animal level. But no one denies that nurture (society) can modify nature, and does so to a great extent. Code d’ Ode is rooted in the undeniable biology of male/female sexuality of the male dominant/female submissive kind. No apology is made for this. Girls who love cock. Guys who love cunt. It is very basic.
4. Slavery in Code d’ Ode is purely sexual, so it is only on a sexual level that the female slave is necessarily submissive anyway. She may be a nuclear physicist on another level, or a successful high-powered business woman, but sexually she is a slave to her Master. Under Code d’ Odalisque a cockslave cannot be made to cook and clean and be treated as a beast of burden. She is preserved from toil. And she need not go out to work and make a living, toiling in factories or commerce. She is kept.
5. The only reason that only females can be odalisques is because of the nature of the service an odalisque provides and that a Slavekeeper demands - not because females are necessarily beneath men and therefore deserve to be enslaved.
6. A premise of Code d’ Ode is that only a few women are true odalisques. We do not suppose that all any woman is good for is her sex. Some women are born to be nuns. Some women are born to be housewives. Some women are born to be astronauts. But some women are born to be cockslaves. Women are diverse. We know that odalisques are rare and so we don’t treat all women like they should be on their knees worshipping our cocks.
The Code draws attention to the following fact:
1.15. - Female sexual servants
It is a constant in human social affairs that there is always a class of female who in one way or another have as their vocation the sexual satisfaction of men.
This does not imply in any way that ALL women should be cockslaves. But there is a (small) class of such women and there always has been. Code d’ Odalisque is for them.

Philosophy
Code d' Odalisque has an implicit philosophy of enlightened hedonism and erotic sophistication. There is an internal logic to the Code developed from historical and contemporary principles. The explicit elements of this philosophy, and the philosophical assumptions underpinning the Code, are outlined in the early articles of the first section and include such assertions as:
*Creation is broad. There are many different ways. There are many different types of people. The essence of cruelty is to treat them all the same. This Code promotes tolerance of the innate differences between human beings.
*Sexuality is an important element in human realization and happiness. Sex is to be explored and enjoyed. Sexual pleasure is a comfort and blessing in life. Human beings, men and women, have a right to sexual fulfilment.
*Slaves are essentially human labour. Slavekeeping societies adapt the institution of slavery to those areas and tasks of life that require human labour. The institutional provision of sexual pleasure is a worthy application of labour.
*While, by technology, we are free of the economic necessity of forced chattel slavery, the mode of slavery itself - which is finally an expression of a culture of reverence - is an innate human propensity.
*Slavery - internally or externally - is a constant in human affairs. All people are slaves to something or someone. The modern person is a wage slave or more likely a debt slave, but a slave all the same. What is the businessman's necktie but a yoke?
*Some people are born slaves. They realise themselves through surrender and service. They are slaves by nature. They are fulfilled through surrender, through being used by another.
*It is a constant in human social affairs that there is always a class of female who in one way or another have as their vocation the sexual satisfaction of men.
*The dominance of human males over human females is biologically sanctioned even if it is not a sociological constant.
*The female form is the encapsulation of earthly beauty. She is made to inspire man to wonder and awe. The delights she offers him remind him of and drive him to seek Paradise.
*Many human females find realisation and fulfilment in total surrender to a man and it is in accord with her nature to have him as Master and Keeper over her.
*Marriage does not encompass the whole of human sexuality. Even in the most traditional of societies there are extra-marital institutions of sexual expression. The cockslave is one of these.
*All cultures regulate and restrict sex and acknowledge that sexual energies can be dangerous and disruptive. The sexual servant is a sensible, structured, responsible way to allow a particular intensity of human sexual outlet.

Under the Sword
In Code d' Odalisque the sword rather than the whip is the symbol of authority. A Slavetrainer keeps a sword and uses it (the threat of it) during training sessions.
So the first and most important item of equipment a Slavetrainer must acquire is a sword. He will use it as a symbol of his authority over the slave who is being trained. The sword is brought to each training session. At the first session it is shown to the slave and its symbolic importance is explained to her.
Obedience under the sword is an essential aspect of slavetraining in Code d' Odalisque. Slavetrainers should give some thought to how the sword can be usefully deployed in training.
At its simplest this consists of the slave exposing the nape of her neck to her Trainer. He puts the cold sword blade on her nape and then commands her speech. Typically, he might say to her, "What are you?" to which she must reply, "I am my Master's cunt!" or similar confessions of her cocklust. Alternatively, the point of the sword can be held at the slave's throat or breast or forehead.
This sort of confession under the sword might be used extensively when a slave is being trained.
Introduce the new slave to the sword at the first session and establish the rule:
The slave must never handle or touch the Trainer's sword for any reason.
It is strictly taboo for a slave to control a sword.
Code d’ Odalisque looks back to historical models from a time when pirates roamed the Barbary coast carrying off white women to serve as sex slaves in the hareems of the Sultan. The sword - the pirate’s cutlass - is the symbol of authority in Code d’ Ode. A slavetrainer needs a sword, both as a symbol and as a training tool. Whips and canes are not usually used in Code d’ Ode. The slavetrainer uses the threat of the sword.
(Needless to say, all sword play requires caution and commonsense to ensure that no one is hurt. Safety first when playing with swords.)

Slavetraining - PHYSICALIZATION
Impress upon the slave:
We are interested in your body. You are a sex slave. We want to use your body. Your body is what makes you valuable to a Slavekeeper. So it is essential that you look after your body and keep it in a healthy and attractive condition.
The contemporary freewoman tends to be very intellectual. This is not desireable in a cockslave. A cockslave is merely a fuckpuppet. Training needs to physicalize her and make her identify herself with her body. She must know implicitly, I AM A BODY. I AM FLESH. Most modern people actually think of themselves as minds in a body (ghost in the machine). A cockslave must stop doing this. She must always think of herself as a physical creature. She should be very focused on her body. She should attend to her body, preen and groom, daily. She should be vitally concerned that she is attractrive and presentable - and fuckable - to the men who are over her.
Don't over-stimulate the slave's mind during training. It is easy to do, but it is a mistake. Reduce her mental stimulation. Make her more physical.
A simple way to reduce her mental stimulation is to keep her blindfolded and otherwise in dimly lit rooms. An odalisque is a creature of the night. Keep her in shadows. In this way she becomes less VISUAL. She takes in less visual stimulation. During training don't let her read or watch television. Let her listen to music, perhaps, but reduce her visual imput. At the same time, concentrate her attention upon her body.
It is usually extremely beneficial for these purposes to indulge the slave in sessions of massage. The Trainer gives her long whole body massages. The intention is to bring the slave deeper into her body, to make her more physical, more "real in the flesh", more present. As an exercise, it also helps the slave learn to surrender her body to the use of another.
Let the slave be fresh from a shower.
Plug her ears and blindfold her.
Let her lay naked on her back at the prepared place (a massage table, for example).
Let her relax.
The Trainer now spends an hour or more massaging and stimulating her whole body. This can include the use of ice packs and hot towels (hold and cold), brushes, prickles, ticklers, rollers, escoriating devices, creams, oils and jellies - a full range of devices designed to give the slave a wide range of sensations. The massage should not be overtly sexual, but rather is sensual in nature. The slave remains entirely passive, her ears and eyes closed. The Trainer has free license to do whatever he likes with her body. He rubs, strokes, kneads, slaps, chops, rolls, tickles - a full range of massaging techniques. The massage should be prolonged and intense. The Trainer can use his imagination and deploy whatever methods and devices he likes upon her body, back and front, to expose her to a full range of sensations, although not excessive pain. It is a mistake to train the body to respond to pain. It can make it numb to finer sensations. Instead, this massage on the slave should take her through a full range of sensations from light tickling to vigorous slapping. Of course, every care must be taken not to scratch or damage the slave's skin.
The objective is not therapy or relaxation. It is increased PHYSICALIZATION. Instruct the slave to do nothing but passively experience the sensations of the massage on her body. Instruct her: "Try not to think about anything. Just feel." Making the slave more physical means making her feel more and think less. In a complete training program there is usually a massage session every day.
A slave might be surprised to find that part of her servitude is to be subjected to prolonged sensual massage, and a Trainer might wonder why he is serving the slave and not the other way around. Such are the special benefits of an odalisque. In this case, the pampering serves a good purpose. It promotes a PASSIVE PHYSICALITY that is exactly what is needed in a cockslave. At a later point the odalisque can learn how to massage a man - it is one of her arts - but in training she is subjected to this vigorous, sensual, physicalizing massage in order to bring her more into her body.
As a general rule physical training is more essential than psychological training. The mind will follow the body. Work from the body to the mind. Train the body first. Training is first of all about the slave's body. A Trainer should not be too eager to go into "brainwashing" and "reprogramming" - if he controls the slave's body then these things will follow. The first thing is to make a real connection to the slave's physicality.

What does "Kept for sex" mean?
When you say that an odalisque is kept for sex, what do you mean? Does the Master have to keep her financially? Is she like a trophy wife?
Ideally, an odalisque is kept from toil. She is kept for sexual service and for that alone. She has no other purpose. She is not her Master's secretary or business partner. She is not his maid or domestic help. He keeps her in all ways – financially, yes – and she serves his bed as a dedicated cockslave. The odalisque thus enjoys a life of relative luxury. Her only duty is to have sex. If you like, this might be a bit like some so-called 'trophy wives' but the role and functions of the odalisque are guided by the codifications of Code d' Odalisque. An odalisque is regarded as the highest of slaves. Accordingly, she is freed from all forms of labour except the erotic arts. Her sole purpose is the provision of pleasure. A Keeper of an odalisque must preserve her beauty and keep her for sexual use. She should be kept away from any form of labour that might chaff her hands or roughen her skin. She is kept for sex. Sex is her work. But she is not a prostitute. She is not for hire. She is owned by a Keeper and she serves him as a sexual servant – bonded service. A Slavekeeper must keep his cockslave in that role and not use her as a beast of burden. Nor is he allowed to pimp her, i.e. hire her out to others.
In practice, in modern times, many women will adopt the odalisque role part-time and must do other tasks in life as well. For many couples it is an economic necessity that both work. But, as far as possible, this should be minimized and the odalisque should spend as much time as possible being kept for her special purpose. A good strategy is for a Slavekeeper to employ a housemaid in order to relieve his odalisque of any domestic chores so that she can be more devoted to a life of leisure and sex.
It is a sad fact that many guys today have objections to keeping a woman in this way. One of the consequences of the feminist revolution has been that men now expect women to work and they resent keeping women. Women should “pull their weight” and contribute fifty/fifty. The ethos of equality in relationships is now standard. The odalisque, however, is kept. She doesn't work. And her Keeper pays everything. Her health insurance. Her food. Heating. Everything. In return, he has his very own sexually obedient cockslave, his own fuckpuppet with which to explore his fantasies in pursuit of hedonistic fulfillment. If a man wants to own an odalisque this is the deal he must except. He must except her as his responsibility and look after her financially and otherwise.
Owning an odalisque is often compared to owning a luxury yatch. They are expensive items, lots of fun but they require a fair bit of up-keep. Owning one is a responsibility as well as a privilege.

An alternative for sexually submissive women
Code d' Odalisque offers a new deal to sexually submissive women.
Many women enjoy playing the role of compliant bedroom slave to a man. She enjoys being used and treated as a sexual plaything. She is happy to be an obedient sexual slave.
But this does not mean that she wants to subjected to violence and abuse. Too often sexually submissive women are subjected to sado-masochism when what they really wanted is to be treated as an object of pleasure.
Nor does her sexually submissive nature mean that she wants to be a housemaid and beast of burden for a man. Too often sexually submissive women are treated as domestic slaves when in fact they want to be bedroom slaves, cockslaves, harem slaves.
Code d' Odalisque offers a non-violent alternative for sexually submissive women. An odalisque is a sexual slave. Not a domestic servant. Not a beast of burden. She is a bedroom slave kept exclusively for sexual use by her Master. She is prized as an object of beauty and pleasure. An odalisque has many rights and privileges not enjoyed by other slaves.
Code d' Odalisque is a modern revival of the institution of odalisque (erotic servant, harem slave, cockslave) in a consensual form. The Code is a set of rules, protocols and etiquette to govern odalisque play. Couples are free to adapt the Code to their circumstances. For some people it is a role playing game. For other people its a lifestyle.
True odalisques are rare, but the main point of aptitude is that a woman is sexually submissive and loves serving cock. Its for women who love to surrender to a man and say, “Take me! Use me! Do whatever you want to me!”

The Written Code
The written Code d' Odalisque is a comprehensive document divided into short articles in a quasi-legal manner. It is clear that the Code began as a series of separate documents that have since been consolidated and revised. The editing process is still patchy and incomplete.
The Code begins with some preliminary descriptions of slave play and is then divided into parts under the following headings: General, The Odalisque, Principles of Contract, Discalcing, Contract of Submission, Assessment and Grading, The Plea for Mercy, Alms, The Master/Slave bond, The Nature of the Odalisque, The Rights and Duties of the Slavekeeper, Types of Play, Guests, The Odella, Training, The Slavetrainer, Positions, Gestures and Commands, Ordeals, Punishment, Sojourn, Overmistress, Qoola, Hareems, Etiquette and Decorum, Conduct during Orgia, Speech and Discourse, Written Etiquette, Auctions, Masques, Safe Words and End Game, Sub Rosa.
The Code serves many purposes. It contains a system of contract, a complete code of etiquette, a charter of rights and responsibilities, a system of grading and various devices to ensure safe, legal and consensual play. It is a voluntary Code founded upon the free consent of adults.
The fifth edition of the Code runs to over 50,000 words in length – the size of a small book. There is also a large body of supplementary material in the form of short essays and FAQs sheets to assist interested players. When collected together the supplementary material often goes under the title, 'The Code Companion'.
There are several versions of the Code in circulation. The third edition was widely distributed. A fourth edition seems to have never appeared. Instead, revisions went directly to a fifth edition which has been made available as a MSWord document, a PDF file and in a HTML format. It is not for sale but is distributed free of charge via the internet and shared among practitioners.

Doms?
Question: Do I need to be a Dom to be a slavekeeper?
It is not necessary that men be "Doms" in the technical sense in Code d' Ode, although it is a maledominant genre of sexual slavery. Real "doms" and real "subs" are defined by their power relations. But Code d' Ode is not essentially about power.
Certainly, the woman is a submitting slave and the man is the dominant
Slavekeeper, but a Slavekeeper in Code d' Ode need not be a "Dom" in the full
sense. That is, he does not need to get off on the control aspect of play.
Instead, the focus of play in Code d' Ode is always sexual. It is about sexual
pleasure, sexual adventure and sexual fantasy. The Slavekeeper's control of his
cockslave is incidental to this - it is not the point of the play itself.
Consequently, the main prerequisite for a Slavekeeper in Code d' Ode is not a
dominant personality and a love of the controlling of women, but a profound drive
to enjoy sexual pleasure and an overwhelming desire to explore his sexual
fantasy world. This must take a distinctly heterosexual form, at least in as
much as it involves a deep love of the feminine. Needless to say, any
woman-hating tendencies will make a man unsuitable for being a Slavekeeper.
No doubt many slaves require discipline and respond to a stern Master. That is
entirely permitted within the limits laid down in the Code, but all the same it
is not the point of play. Bondage play is fun but in Code d' Ode the point of
bondage is to place the slave in positions required for sexual access. Again,
bondage and captivity are means to an end, and that end is sexual.
It has been our experience so far that the majority of Keepers in Code play are
not "Doms" in the technical sense.
To be suitable for the role of Slavekeeper you need to be more than just horny.
Keeping an odalisque - that is keeping another human being as a slave - is not
all fun and games. It is a weighty responsibility. A Keeper must be mature and
level-headed. Above all he must have chivalric qualities, including courage
because to earnestly explore the deepening layers of your own inner fantasy
world can, in fact, be a scary undertaking. It is necessarily self-confronting.
Code d' Ode is about sexual joy, but it does have a "tantric" side. The slave
makes herself into the inner female that dwells in the male fantasy world. The
mode of play is "fantasy projection." The Keeper uses the slave to explore his
fantasy world.
Ever since the day he learnt to masturbate, every (hetero) male builds up images
of a fantasy female. She is luscious, cock-loving and compliant. The odalisque
makes herself into a projection of this fantasy female. If she serves her Master
well she will learn all she can about his inner female in order to become her.
This can in fact be confronting for men. Fantasy is one thing. When it becomes a
reality it is quite another. So a Slavekeeper needs to be a man of depth. These qualities are more important than a dominant personality.
Code d' Odalisque is unashamedly hedonistic. It is about the pursuit of pleasure. An odalisque is a pleasure slave. A Slavekeeper therefore must be a man who is in pursuit of pleasure, not the thrill of power. (Acknowledging, of course, that power is an aphrodisiac and an adjunct to pleasure. You can have both!)

MENSURATION
MENSURATION
Question: What position does Code d' Odalisque take on mensuration? Can a slave be required to fuck while she is bleeding? Can a Slavekeeper give a slave drugs to stop her mensurating?
Answer: In general Code d' Odalisque follows the age-old taboo on sex during mensturation that is found in various cultures including the Turkish, Persian and Middle Eastern cultures in which odalisque slavery first developed. It is a taboo also observed by many Western people. But the basis of the taboo in Code d' Ode has nothing to do with ideas that a mensturating woman is unclean or cursed – it is rather just a mercy allowed to odalisques that gives them regular times without the demands of active sexual service. Article 10:44 of the Code states:
10.44. - Sex during menses
An odalisque shall not be compelled to have sex during her menses.
And article 2:25 states:
2.25.- Relaxation of nakedness during menses
The requirements of nakedness will normally be relaxed during a female's menses or during sickness or ill-health as well as during sojourn from occlusion.
As usual, of course, practitioners of this style of sexual slave-play may wish to change or adapt such rules to their own personal preferences. Some men, and women, don't mind the blood and mess that accompanies sex during menses; others do. The default position given in the Code is that sexual service is not required of a slave while she is bleeding. In fact, the Code provides a ritual means by which a slave notifies her Master of the on-set of bleeding. See article 24:24:
24.24.- Announcing menstruation
When an odalisque begins to menstruate she should go to her Keeper at an appropriate time and indicate the onset of her menses in the following way:
(a) The slave sits on the floor in silence and throws her hair forward over her face. (If an odalisque has short hair she wears a thin veil over her face.)
(b) The Keeper approaches. He tells the slave to look up. He parts the hair (or veil) from her face, bends down and kisses her on the lips. There is no need for either player to say anything.
As for controlling menses with drugs or other means, this is specifically forbidden under the Code. Many prostitutes use chemical means to eliminate their menses altogether so that their work is uninterrupted. In the long run this is dangerous to a woman's health. Code d' Ode places a woman's health ahead of other interests and so the practice is forbidden. See article 11:30.
11.30. - Prohibition on the radical control of menses
A Keeper shall not submit an odalisque to the chemical eradication or control of her menstrual cycles where this may possibly have negative long-term consequences upon her health, including her reproductive health, at a later time in her life.
We think that these provisions are fair and humane and take proper account of the nature of woman. Menses is a fact of human female sexuality. The sexual service to which an odalisque submits should take account of this fact. Please note article 10:43 of the Code:
10.43. - Regular respite from sexual duties
An odalisque shall have at least every seventh day free of her Keeper's demands and shall have regular respite from sexual duties.
Since a cockslave is to be allowed regular respite from sexual service it makes sense to take advantage of her natural cycles and to forgo sexual service whilst she is bleeding. Moreover, mensturation is not a curse or a disease. It is a normal feature of female sexual health. It may be an inconvenience, but it is natural and normal and – as always – the slave's health and well-being are paramount under Code d' Odalisque and come before other interests.
