Question: How much would it cost to keep an odalisque in occlusion full-time for a year?

Question: How much would it cost to keep an odalisque in occlusion full-time for a year?

The total cost will depend upon many factors including the cost of living in the country in which you live. Living is more expensive in some places than in others, obviously. In the USA the cost can be compared to the estimated cost of keeping an adult dependent which, according to the Consumer Expenditure Index, is somewhere around $12-14,000. That is, just over $1000 per month. (This is based on monthly food - $200, medical = $100, housing = $500, transportation = $200, other = $200.) This is the cost of a modestly active middle class standard of living.

In fact, keeping an odalisque should be considerably cheaper because there are few transportation and clothing costs and, often, no direct accommodation outlays. An odalisque is a captive. Her needs are simple. Most of the time she is kept naked in one room. In most cases it should be possible to keep an odalisque very comfortably for little more than a baseline figure of $600 per month. Approximately.

There are additional expenses an odalisque will incur. These include:

Heating costs. Rooms need to be heated to be comfortable for a naked or semi-naked odalisque.

Water costs. Baths, showers, spas – an odalisque has high water needs. A man who owns an odalisque can expect a rise in his water bill.

Classes and tuition. Music lessons. Art lessons. Yoga lessons. French lessons. Membership at a gymnasium. A good Slavekeeper sends his slave to various classes as an adjunct to her training and service.

Health insurance. An odalisque should receive the best possible medical and dental care.

Food. The Code requires that a Slavekeeper feed his slave the same quality of food he enjoys. An odalisque enjoys a good, healthy diet – health foods can be expensive.

Note well that all costs follow from keeping the odalisque as a willing captive, free from toil. She adds no income. She is all cost.

Also note that she does not receive a wage or financial reward for her services – an odalisque is not a whore. Costs are incidental to what it costs to keep a captive slave, a high-class prisoner.

Depending on circumstances, for legal, taxation and accounting purposes an odalisque may be declared an adult dependent, which indeed she is. Like all captives she is dependent upon her captor. He incurs all the costs of her captivity.

Under Code d’ Odalisque an odalisque is entitled to a suitable degree of comfort, even luxury, appropriate to her status. An odalisque should not be kept in a slapdash manner. A gentleman should be prepared to pay a suitable sum for the proper care of such a rare treasure.

All financial arrangements made for the keeping of an odalisque must be transparent, above board and legal.
