10.40. - The right to attend to an art
An odalisque may, if she wishes, attend to one of the arts - singing, music, poetry, painting - in which case her Keeper shall supply her with whatever she needs to pursue the art and reach her full potential in it.
The odalisque's duties to her Master are simple and one-dimensional. She is a pleasure slave. Her duty is to provide pleasure. As a slave, it is not her duty to be a companion or to provide intellectual stimulation. A man should seek that from girlfriends, wives, partners, friends. An odalisque is for one purpose and one purpose only - pleasure. Sexual pleasure. In this capacity it is best if she is single-minded and uncomplicated. She provides her Master with sexual pleasure. That is all. Training of an odalisque includes methods of simplification and induced monomania.
Nevertheless, even the most active odalisque will not be providing sexual pleasure all day every day. In the leisured life of the odalisque there is ample free time. An odalisque fills such time with preening, grooming, exercise as well as sleep, lounging.
An odalisque may also pursue an art as part of her refinement. Most commonly, an odalisque learns a musical instrument. This can be for her Master's enjoyment, but an odalisque is not an entertainer all the same. The learning of an art is incidental to her role as odalisque. An odalisque fucks - playing piano is secondary.
The benefits of an odalisque attending to an art are many. Refinement, discipline, concentration, reflection. The art forms a contrapunctual relief from the one-dimensionality of the odalisque role. It is best if the art is not such that it unnecessarily complicates the slave. Usually it is best if it is an emotional rather than a cerebral art.
Some Slavekeepers require their slaves to keep a journal, and this may extend to a journal of drawings or poems etc. The learning of an art can be integrated into the odalisque's lifestyle in this way. In any case, the odalisque has a right - under the Code - to attend to an art, and her Master is obliged to supply her with the means to do so.
