Slave positions - 'Full Moon'


17.7. - Full Moon

An odalisque shall be trained to stand to the position called "Full Moon". The slave stands in the same position as "Decor" but with the arms raised above the head to form a gentle and graceful half-circle. This is the posture usually used for exhibition and inspection.
  

One of the slave positions commonly used in Code d' Odalisque is the so-called 'Full Moon' position. It is a position often shown in Victorian and Edwardian erotica where it is used as a position for display and exhibition. It is called 'Full Moon' because it is as though the slave is holding a huge big moon above her head.


Note that the hands should not meet. The slave position is not the same as 'fifth position' in ballet where the hands are joined above the head:



A slave is not a ballet dancer. Rather, the arms are open - receptive - and the circle they shape is, as the Code says, gentle and graceful. Another way to think of it, and a good way to practice it, is to think of the slave holding a veil above her head, as in the picture below:
