Answer: Erotic bondage play is a natural part of Code d' Odalisque. Odalisque slavery is, by definition, about restraint, restriction, bondage of slave to Master. The odalisque is bound to serve her Master and lives in a state of bondage. She may be a luxury slave kept for the purposes of sexual delight but she is a slave nonetheless, and slaves live in bondage. The practical application of physical bondage – ropes, scarves, handcuffs, etc – to the slave is a natural expression of her enslaved state. It is a normal part of sexual play in Code d' Odalisque for the slave to be subject to bondage and restraint in a wide variety of ways and a wide variety of positions. The creative Slavekeeper will use bondage as a method of exploring the delights of his odalisque's body.

The only restrictions on this are that the bondage should not be designed to cause pain, since sado-masochism is not a feature of Code d' Odalisque, and the bondage should be calculated to do no harm to the slave and especially no harm to her skin. Bonds that inflict scars or leave marks of any kind are forbidden. That is, light to medium bondage methods are alright, but heavy sadistic bondage is not permitted. The slave must be kept from all pain and damage. Harsh bonds, heavy chains and materials that cut or are abrasive on the skin in any way are inappropriate. Needless to say, the slave must be kept safe from harm at all times. A Slavekeeper must always exercise proper care for his slave's well-being and not expose her to dangerous or extreme forms of bondage. This is not to say that bondage need be timid. Again, creative Slavekeepers can find a vast array of bondage scenarios within these limits and use bondage as a natural device in the full enjoyment of the cockslave.

Ordinarily, bondage in Code d' Ode is not an end in itself but is used to facilitate sexual enjoyment. The slave will usually be tied up in positions that allow better access to her sexual parts. The slave is held in place while her Keeper enjoys her mool. Yet bondage can also be an artform in itself. Many Slavekeepers will use bondage as a means of exploring the aesthetic joys of the female form. Some bondage is for the visual enjoyment of the slave. A serious Slavekeeper will count the fine art of tying up a slave as one of his most essential accomplishments. Answer: An odalisque is essentially naked. She is naked in principle and almost always in practice. This is for several reasons. It is symbolic of her sexual purpose, for a start. Clothes protect the body and so are worn by workers. An odalisque doesn't labour. She is kept from toil and devoted solely to a sexual role, the provision of erotic pleasure. So she has no need of clothes. It is emblematic of her freedom from labour and her servitude to cock. As well as this, her body is an object of visual delight. She is forever on display, visually pleasing to her Master. An odalisque should be visually satisfying when she is not actively engaged in providing sexual satisfaction. She is an erotic object, an object of erotic beauty. She is naked so that her body and her sex is on display. And, as well as this, her nakedness is her leash. An odalisque is not kept on a leash. But she is kept naked, and barefoot, and this acts to bind her, control her. Her Master controls her garments.

By keeping her naked he keeps her enslaved. The idea is that her nakedness is a prison. Freewomen wear clothes and shoes. Slaves are naked and barefooted. Her nakedness signifies her enslavement as well as her humility as a mere slave. It distinguishes her from the freewoman as well as from the working woman. However, an odalisque can be allowed some garments according to her Master's tastes and according to the need to keep warm. And she may be given garments in the context of fantasy. But the Slavemaster cannot dress his slave as a whore, or a slut, and should maintain her essential and basic nakedness at all times. That is, he should dress her as an odalisque – naked – not as something she is not. She is not a freewoman, or a whore, or a slut, or a maid or worker. She is a sex slave. It is appropriate that she is naked. She need not be kept stark naked at all times, but she is eternally, essentially naked, and the Slavekeeper should respect this and observe it as a rule of slavekeeping. It should be stressed that a discalced slave should always be barefooted as well as naked. An odalisque is barefooted. Shoes are the symbol of the freewoman.

Code d' Odalisque provides for the institution of 'Overmistress' as part of a whole range of measures designed to protect and nurture the odalisque. An Overmistress is a female mentor, guardian and counsellor for odalisques. Usually an Overmistress will be an older woman, and her role is non-sexual. She remains in contact with the odalisque and looks after her interests. She is independent of the slave's Master. Her job is to support, protect and advise the slave. A slave can contact her Overmistress at any time and a Slavemaster cannot prevent an Overmistress from inspecting and having access to the slave. The Overmistress provides practical as well as psychological support for the slave. She is the slave's confidente. Ideally, an Overmistress will be an ex-slave who fully understands the life and role of odalisque. Where necessary she may even intervene to protect a slave from an abusive Master.

It is not compulsory for an odalisque to have an Overmistress but it is advisable in many cases, especially where a slave is kept in full-time occlusion or where she consents to be involved in very hardcore types of play. Young and inexperienced women who enter odalisque slavery are also advised to arrange an Overmistress to protect and guide them. For casual and 'hobby' players an Overmistress is probably not necessary. As always, Code d' Ode looks to safe, sane, legal slave-play and is always calculated to protect the slave and put her welfare foremost. If a woman is apprehensive about entering into a Master/slave relationship then she is best advised to find an Overmistress who will keep an eye on her and look after her interests.
