The Slave Code

The odalisque slave code is a fully developed quasi-legal codification of the regulations governing this distinctive form of consensual slavery. The Code itself has been modelled upon the old legal codes of the Ottoman Empire. It is comprehensive; it covers all aspects of odalisque slavery including etiquette, the laws of contract, the rights of Masters and slaves and the ethical obligations of all participants.

Readers should note that at its inception the Code was an assembly of several distinct documents put together by various people. There was considerable overlap and repetition in these original documents. These documents were then consolidated into a single Code. Through various revisions and editions some of the repetition has been removed, but the Code nevertheless still retains much of its original character. It is intended to be a type of legal codification that covers all aspects of odalisque slave play.

Note that the concept of Code d' Odalisque developed from what was initially a combination of BDSM and "tantric" sexo-spiritual practices. Subsequently, the "tantric" practitioners went their separate ways.

The history of the development of the Code is roughly as follows:

First Edition

This was a loose ensemble of papers, most of them written by Steven and Vicki Rose, in a folder entitled ‘Odalisque: Tantric Non-violent Slavery’. At this stage more raw materials and ideas than a consistent codification. An additional untitled folder of supplementary material.

Second Edition

A heavy editing of the materials in the first edition. Rules of etiquette and slave positions added. The name ‘Code d’ Odalisque’ is used for the first time. This edition was never released publicly – only circulated in private use.

Third Edition

After a long hiatus, a complete re-editing of the second edition with materials arranged as a Code but not organized into sections. Much of the “tantric” content was excised in this revision. Most of the original authors no longer involved at this point. Revision supervised by Charles Molyneux. First public edition after clarifications of copyright. Note: an incomplete and faulty pirated version of the Third Edition is now being distributed by several scurrilous websites.

Fourth Edition

Revision and refinement of the third edition in light of a further folder of original notes, again mostly by Steve Rose. Consent provisions revised in light of legal advice. Additional input from practitioners. A lot of repetition removed from the text. A new numbering system introduced. Only circulated in draft form.

Fifth Edition

An upgrade of the draft of the fourth edition with some notes and appendices added. Made widely available in PDF format. The first edition to be widely promoted.

Sixth Edition

Draft only for private circulation and discussion. No public edition. Minor amendments. New footnotes.

The NEW EDITION (Seventh Revision) is now available. It consists of the following sections:
