A Simulated Slave Economy (repost)

Code d' Ode includes a simulated slave economy. Legality is a first principle, so slavetrading is entirely simulated and no money changes hands between active players at any juncture. But a simulated trade operates as follows:

*Before purchase cockslaves are graded and priced. They are very expensive items! They are the most expensive of all slaves.

*A slave should demand that she be purchased, not taken freely like a slut. She is proud to be purchased.

*But her owner can "opt" to "commute" the slaveprice to alms. This means he makes a donation to charity instead. The purchase is only token (and indirect).

*Only some charities are acceptable for alms. These are: campaigns against child labour, forced prostitution and female genital mutilation, and all forms of non-consensual slavery. (You can't make a donation to your golf club and call it alms. It has to be directed to an appropriate cause.)

*The slavewoman has the right to nominate the organisation to which she wants her new owner to "commute the slaveprice to alms."

*The slaveowner has the right to decide the sum he will pay in alms to the charity his slave has nominated. Symbolically speaking he has paid the full price and the slave can wear her price with pride.

*A slaveowner is not required to reveal to his slave the actual sum of alms he has paid, nor is he required to give proof of payment to the slave or to anyone else. It is enough that he says to his new slave that he has "commuted the slave price to alms" with the charity of her choice.

*This constitutes full payment.

*It is improper for either slave or Keeper to ever mention either the fact or the sum of payment in any context again. It is a taboo topic in Code d' Ode play.

*It is a voluntary code. Men of good conscience will acknowledge that owning a cockslave is a rare privilege in life and will happily make a generous donation to a worthy cause in lieu of the slaveprice. This legitimizes the bond over his slave.

*Honesty is a cardinal virtue in a Slavekeeper. So when a man says "I have paid the slaveprice" (by way of a token donation to an appropriate charity) then we expect he is reporting the truth. It would be poisonous to begin a Keeper/slave relationship with a lie.

*It is the intent of Code d' Ode to foster and protect odalisques at all times. The whole Code works against illegal slavetrading, forced prostitution and exploitation.

*Odalisques are urged to demand that their owners pay the slave price. She should ask, "Am I to be taken for free like a slut?" An odalisque should SHAME her owner into paying a price for her.

*A key quality in a Slavetrader is the urge to protect and nurture odalisques. Such a man will abhor the ruthless maltreatment of beautiful, erotic women at the hands of underworld rackets and will happily give to charities that are devoted to helping such women. There are thousands of them in forced prostitution in the United States!

*There are no obstacles to players holding (consensual) slave auctions or auctions-for-service so long as ALL proceeds go to an appropriate charity.

*Code d' Ode seeks to create a high-class, luxury, consensual cockslave culture where play incidentally assists charity work that is devoted to eradicating forms of non-consensual sex slavery.

Light punishment



In standard BDSM slave play slaves may be subject to corporal punishment: whipping, paddling, smacking and flogging are common ways in which to punish a slave. Indeed, for those who enjoy pain and inflicting pain, these types of punishment may be central to slave play – punishment becomes the whole point of play.

This is not the case in Code d’ Odalisque. Forms of punishment are passive and non-violent – such as consigning a slave to kneel in the corner for a specified time – and punishment and pain are not central features of slave play. They may be included in play but they are not the point of play. Rather, Code d’ Ode is hedonistic. It is about pleasure. The central activity of slave play involves the slave being a willing vehicle for her Master’s pleasures. Punishment is a secondary and incidental part of play.

An odalisque must submit to discipline. She must be trained in the odalisque’s arts. It is necessary for Keepers and Trainers to develop suitable methods of punishment for those times when a slave transgresses or disobeys. An odalisque is a pampered slave, but she is still subject to a slave’s discipline. She must be trained to be obedient and compliant. It is necessary to have tools of punishment to wield as required.

These methods of punishment must be non-violent. An odalisque is not a pain slave. Odalisque slavery is non S & M. But there is bondage, and there is discipline.

Sending a slave to the corner for a time is an old tried-and-true mode of punishment. But there are other methods. Isolation. Deprivation. Restriction. Slavekeepers and Slavetrainers should experiment and develop favored methods of punishment according to their experience. All punishments should be non-violent, non-aggressive – light but effective punishment is the ideal.

Code d' Odalisque

Sexual dualities

Code d’ Odalisque is constructed around tensions between opposites: on the one hand debauched indulgence and on the other mannered elegance. It is a system of consensual sexual slave play the purpose of which is to provide a platform for sexual exploration. An odalisque is a sexual slave. Her task is to be a vehicle for sexual gratification for her Master. Accordingly, she is an extremely sexual being; she is willing to be used in and participate in sexual indulgences that go well beyond a ‘vanilla’ range of sexual tastes. Code d’ Ode is not about dungeons and grunge. It is about an elegant debauchery, a sophisticated and urbane erotic indulgence.

There is always this tension under Code d’ Ode – reckless, wild, debauched in contrast with polite, mannered, sophisticated. People involved must find ways to use the provisions of the Code according to their own circumstances in order to build a creative tension between indulgence and control. This is characteristic of the cockslave herself. Her motto is: ‘Fathomless Lust. Perfect Obedience.’ She is expected to be wild, unihibited, lascivious, abandoned to sexual excess. She fucks and sucks like a crazy woman. An odalisque is expected to be lustful, cock-crazy, yearning to serve, yearning to be used and enjoyed.

But on the other hand – against this seething lust - she is expected to be well-trained, polite, compliant, self-controlled, perfectly obedient to the commands of her Master. The Code features a repertoire of postures and slave positions that the slave must learn. She learns to walk with elegance and to hold her posture well. She is well-groomed and well-spoken.

Slavekeepers too are expected to be gentlemen, even as they go about the unbridled exploration of their most profligate desires. There is a creative tension within a Slavekeeper: animal lust and gentlemanly urbanity.

Every aspect of Code d’ Ode can be understood in terms of these polarities and the tension between them. The two poles would seem to be incompatible: sexual abandon and self-restraint. The trick is to turn these polarities into a fulcrum for creative play. Above all, Code d’ Ode offers a platform for creative maledom/femsub sexuality. The source of this creativity is in the inherent contradictions between abandon and restraint. In theory and in practice Code d' Ode is driven by creative tension between opposites. It is dualistic. It sets up and then explores sexual dualities. The male dom and the female submissive is the central duality. The duality between wild lust and perfect sophistication is another expression of the same dynamic.

Slaves and whores

1.21. - Whoredom

Sexual slavery is better than whoredom. The whole tenor of this Code is opposed to prostitution in all its forms. The use of the term “sex slave” should not be confused with the popular use of this term for forced prostitution.


The role of the odalisque can be better understood by considering her in relation to the prostitute. There are significant differences, and also significant similarities.

The odalisque and the whore are similar in that both of them are women who live by providing sexual service to men. An odalisque is a cockslave. She is a sexual slave. A pleasure slave. She is kept by a Slavekeeper to be used for sex. Her “work”, like that of the whore, consists of letting men use her body for sexual gratification.

But, unlike the whore, the cockslave is not for hire. She is owned, not leased. The whore hires her body out to any man with the money. The odalisque belongs to one man, her Keeper. He then enjoys her as his own personal pleasure slave, but he may also share her with other men; in fact, sharing is the norm. A Slavekeeper puts an odalisque to her proper task, namely providing sexual gratification to men. He uses her for his own pleasures and he shares her with friends. So even though an odalisque is owned by one man, she will often service a circle of gentlemen. But never for money. She never sells her sex.

And Slavekeepers are strictly forbidden from prostituting a slave. An odalisque is kept from, protected from, whoredom. A prostitute is always subject to the harsh realities of the market, the violence of the street. In this she either looks out for herself or she is subject to exploitation by a pimp. A Slavekeeper must keep his slave from this fate. An odalisque is not a whore for rent. She is not on the open market. It is a grave insult to an odalisque to treat her as a whore.

The Code takes a strong stance on this. There is a strict contrast between slave and whore. The odalisque is, as it were, an anti-whore. Odalisque slavery is, as it were, an alternative to prostitution. In any society the reality is that men will want their (extra-marital) sexual desires served and satisfied. How is this to be done? In most societies it is done through prostitution. But it could be done through odalisque slavery in a society where odalisques are the norm. A cockslave serves male desires. That is her task. That is her vocation. She is trained and dedicated to that end. But she is bonded to a Master – bonded service, not hire service.

Many submissive females fall into prostitution. But they are often brutalised in the experience. They would be better serving as an odalisque, serving a Slavemaster as his cockslave.

An odalisque shall acknowledge the Phallus as her god and shall worship the cock of her Keeper - her Master - and what other men she serves.


Biologists tell us that human beings have an evolutionary advantage over other primates, and animals in general, for numerous reasons: the structure of the human thumb, the size of the brain, the shape of the skull, the upright gait, and so on. Something that is not often mentioned is that the human phallus is bigger in proportion to the body than is the male organ of any other species. Never mind about opposable digits, compared to apes, man is hung! Man is endowed with a disproportionately large dick. Man, that is, is an especially phallic creature.

It might be said that Code d’ Odalisque is a system of erotic play built upon these facts. It is a platform for human sexual adventure. The foundations for this are in human biology. It is entirely natural that the human male might be driven by phallic yearning, and it is equally natural for the human female to be fascinated by, fixed upon, the male organ. There are sound biological reasons for human beings having such fixations. The human phallus is a paragon of nature, one of the keys to the unique human endowment. The phallus is one of the things that makes man man. Its size and grandeur demands our attention and has shaped both psychology and culture.

Code d’ Ode should be seen in this context. Odalisque slavery is male dominant/female submissive, and heterosexual; this accords with the phallic aspect of the natural order. Much of human culture has been overtly phallic. In India since ancient Vedic times the “lingham” has been regarded as sacred and has been at the centre of Hindu religious fetishism. Beyond the middle-class orgy

The orgy went mainstream some time in the 1990s. Middle class couples had been “swinging” since the Sixties – group sex scenes became common middle-class affairs with the advent of internet porn. Moms and dads were suddenly experimenting with threesomes, same-room-sex, foursomes and moresomes, so that, whereas it had once been a gross taboo only known to bohemian deviants, it is now a not uncommon feature of behind-the-scenes middle class life. Check the on-line forums. “Wanted. Horny married couple seek same for group fun.”

But as anyone who has dabbled in middle-class group sex soon discovers the whole business tends to be tasteless and tacky. It promises to be exciting and adventurous; instead it often amounts to little more than quite mechanical, joyless strutting. Instead of exhilarating, it tends to be banal. Have you ever attended a “gangbang” where the guys all stand around swapping jokes and making crass remarks while they wait their turn? Or an orgy where participants take a “breather” and sit out while texting on their iPhone? Or other group events ruined by idiots, egoists, loud-mouths or men or couples who don’t know the most basic of sexual courtesies? Perhaps you’ve been to a group scene where participants turn up un-washed and reeking of body odor? The whole thing can be quite ugly. No fun.

Code d’ Odalisque includes rules and guidelines for civilized orgia. The default position under the Code is for Slavekeepers to share their cockslaves with other gentlemen and to deploy cockslaves for the purposes of debauched and decadent sexual excess. But the Code also strives for elegance instead of ugliness, beauty instead of banality. The Code includes detailed articles of etiquette and formality designed to maintain certain standards of decorum even during orgiastic events. In this way the Code seeks to rescue the modern orgy from middle-class tackiness. There is a carefully defined code of behavior for guests who are invited to enjoy the delights of an odalisque. These rules grew out of first-hand experience. Men and women today – too often uncultured and uncouth - need such rules. An odalisque – a treasure of flesh – deserves to be protected from common crassness.

This is an important part of the mission of Code d’ Odalisque – creating a platform for the refined enjoyment of multi-player sex. An odalisque is kept for sex. She is to be enjoyed. And, by default, she may be enjoyed by others beyond her Keeper, including by several gentlemen at once. This is especially true of odalisques who choose to specialize in group sex (orgophons). But it is important that players seek to rise above middle-class tackiness and the type of grunge sex that characterizes sex-in-the-suburbs. 20.4. - A cockslave in sojourn not a freewoman

An odalisque in sojourn is not a freewoman, although she goes as a freewoman in the world. She is an odalisque. If she is bonded, then she is the sexual property of her Keeper at all times, in occlusion or sojourn. If she is unbonded then she yearns to be owned sexually by a Keeper.


In modern conditions the 24/7 cockslave is rare. Rather, contemporary women either need to work or want to pursue their careers, or they want to study, etc. This requires arrangements where the slave spends part of her time in "sojourn". This is also the case where she needs to leave the house and interact with the world for other reasons, such as going to gym or swimming or to yoga classes. The odalisque's life is very likely to involve times when she is in sojourn rather than in "occlusion" as a slave.

A slave on sojourn goes about her business like a freewoman but she remains a slave. The Code provides rules for the slave on sojourn. For instance, she is forbidden from discussing her slavery with strangers, i.e. she is sworn to be discreet.

To remind her that she is bonded to her Master he may require that she wear a reminder of her captivity.

A Keeper may require that his cockslave wear a collar or, more appropriately, an ankle band or nose ring, or some other item of clothing or jewellery, whenever she is in sojourn to remind her of her captivity and her continuing obligations as an odalisque.


The usual device for this is the anklet or ankle band. The odalisque has an anklet that she wears whenever she is on sojourn. She is forbidden to leave the house without wearing it. It serves as a subtle, inconspicuous reminder that she remains a cockslave even when not in occlusion.

The true odalisque loves occlusion. She will try to minimize her time on sojourn.

Secrecy


In these times of minority and identity politics, where everyone and everything claims a right to equal recognition, many people in the consensual Master/slave community are increasingly overt about their lifestyle. Tired of apologizing for their dominant/submissive nature, they adopt a belligerent and defiant attitude. They say, “We are what we are and the rest of society can get used to it.” They demand that the “straight” or “vanilla” world accept them and their lifestyle. This has become the stance of a whole range of sexual minorities, most notably the gay community, where “coming out of the closet” and being openly and defiantly gay is now the standard posture vis-à-vis the “straight” community.

Various provisions of Code d’ Odalisque direct players to a different, more cautious, position as far as odalisque slavery is concerned. There is a code of secrecy that operates under Code d’ Ode. The odalisque lifestyle is, by nature and by policy, a discreet affair. The Code directs that players maintain utmost discretion and that play be “under the rose” – sub rosa – as they say. Players should not make a public spectacle of the lifestyle. It is not something for open public display. There is no politics of confrontation.

Rather, it is well understood that “straight” society is not going to understand and accept the concept of “submissive sex slave” and so it is better not to rub it in their faces. It is much wiser to conduct the lifestyle behind closed doors. Nothing is to be gained from drawing attention to it. Odalisques are kept and enjoyed behind closed doors, and only those people who are involved need know about it.

Slaves under Code d’ Ode are sworn to this. A motto of the Code is: “Her tongue is never free.” This means that she is never at liberty to discuss her slavery in public. It is entirely improper for a woman to be public and open about her slavery. The word “occlusion” – which is used to signify the state of active slavery – means “hidden”. An odalisque is a woman of occlusion. She is held in secret, kept secret from the world. She does not go on Jerry Springer to confess to her life of debauched service. She does not go to bars or parties and blab or boast about being a cockslave. She must respect the code of secrecy. Her life is “sub rosa.” Only a small number of people need know of her life in occlusion. Her Master keeps her captive, to be used for sex – the wider world need not know anything about it.

Similarly, gentlemen who own and enjoy odalisques ought to be very circumspect about this activity. It is most improper for them to boast or big-note themselves about owning a cockslave. Ordinarily, neither their neighbors nor many of their friends need know that he owns and is served by an odalisque. Only those who are involved need know. He may choose to share his odalisque with other gentlemen, but there is no need for her to be made general knowledge. The articles of the Code specifically forbid him from making a slave into a public spectacle.

The odalisque lifestyle, therefore, is “closed”. It is “in the closet”. It is behind closed doors. This is both prudent and it is inherent to the psychology and character of odalisque slave play. An odalisque is an essentially sexual slave. She is held in captivity. Captivity, by definition, is an imprisonment. It is closed. It violates the whole nature of the institution of occlusion to make it open to public viewing. The activities of slave life under Code d’ Ode are necessarily secretive.

This is a necessary feature of ‘code culture’ – it is underground. This is one reason why odalisque play it governed by a detailed (quasi-legal) code of rules. It must be safe, legal and consensual – but it remains outside of immediate public scrutiny. Moreover, it is not political. Many minority sexual tastes are now highly politicized. There are activists for everything. Code d’ Ode is not a political statement. It stays out of the public gaze and, as far as possible, out of public discourse. It proceeds quietly – legally, safely, consensually – without attracting undue public attention. Where people pry, it is best to ignore them. Don't debate them. Don't try to convince them. Don't try to explain. In most cases, the less "vanilla" folks know about your lifestyle the better. This has proven to be the best position to adopt.

Occlusion and Sojourn (repost)



People in the “scene” will often speak of “real time” slaves as distinct from merely casual players, or will distinguish between lifestylers and mere hobbyists. In Code d’ Odalisque these distinctions are covered by the concepts of OCCLUSION and SOJOURN. Whether a player is “real time” and is living “The Lifestyle” or not depends upon the amount of time she spends in OCCLUSION as opposed to how much time she spends in SOJOURN.

Occlusion is the state of captivity when an odalisque is in active service to her Master. She spends this time naked and barefoot, a willing live-in cockslave. At other times, though, she may be allowed to go out into the world like a freewoman. Such times are called Sojourn. A 24/7 RT slave spends her time entirely in occlusion and never goes on sojourn. On the other hand, a part-time “hobby” slave will spend only a short time in occlusion and will otherwise spend most of her time on sojourn.

In this way, Code d’ Ode is very flexible. The rules of the Code are made with full-time serious players in mind. But the Code is easily adapted to those people who merely want to role-play now and then. Full-time occlusion (with only short and occasional periods in sojourn) is the ideal for a true odalisque, but a wide range of other arrangements are possible. It is fair to say that modern women are less inclined to spend 100% of their time in occlusion when compared to odalisques of past eras. Under Code d’ Ode a woman can spend 4 days a week in occlusion serving her Master and three days a week in sojourn doing a University degree or working in an office. The balance between occlusion and sojourn is to be determined by agreement between Master and slave and can change according to circumstance.

It should be stressed that a slave on sojourn is NOT a freewoman. She is still a slave and is still bonded to her Master, and there is a code of behaviour for her to follow whilst away on sojourn. And it also needs to be said that a true odalisque under a competent Master will yearn for longer periods of occlusion and will cherish the times when her captive service is uninterupted by the other concerns of life.

We resist all forms of “scene” snobbishness in which full-timers sneer at and belittle part-time players. Every M/s couple can make the arrangements that suit them.

East and West



The system of censual slaveplay codified in Code d’ Odalisque is based – very loosely – upon the historical institution of the ‘odalisque’ (pleasure slave) which was a feature of oriental civilizations before the modern era. In Ottoman Turkey the institution continued up until the early twentieth century. Impressions and remnants of odalisque slavery are recorded in so-called ‘Orientalist’ art made by European artists and travelers – the “odalisque” was one of their favorite themes. Code d’ Odalisque is a modern revival of odalisque slavery on consensual principles.

At the same time, however, it is not an historical re- creation. No claims are made for Code d’ Ode being an accurate reflection of historical realities. It is based, instead, upon European (Western) imaginings of the sensuous slave traditions of the ancient East.

Moreover, these imaginings have been combined and blended with a distinctly Western hardcore sensibility. In modern times Oriental (Islamic) cultures have degenerated into a reactionary puritanism. Such cultures have disavowed the color and richness of their heritage for a narrow puritanical fundamentalism. It is a remarkable fact, for example, that the great erotic poets of the East are now more popular in Europe and the USA than among Persians and Arabs. 21.5. - Duties of an Overmistress

An Overmistress is charged with the duty of overseeing the well-being, safety and proper care of an odalisque under her supervision.


One of the rights given to an odalisque is the right to have an Overmistress, i.e. a female overseer who is independent of the odalisque’s Slavekeeper. The Overmistress is usually an older women. She is consulted for advice and she offers guidance to the slave. She has no claim over the slave and does not command the slave – she is merely a benevolent protectress who acts and advises in the slave’s interest.

This is largely a safety device. Any woman who is immersed in the odalisque role on a fulltime basis should consider having an Overmistress. The Overmistress will look out for the slave’s well-being. By definition, submissive women rarely speak up for themselves; they are compliant and agreeable, as it should be. But where play is serious and the slave is submitted to serious service it is often advisable for her to have an Overmistress, an objective representative who is watching out for the slave’s welfare. The Overmistress is independent of the Slavekeeper. She is also a non-sexual player. It is important that an Overmistress does not become sexually involved. She is necessarily an outsider to whom a slave might turn if she falls into trouble. A wise Overmistress will not interfere in the Master/slave relationship, but she will be ready and willing to act if the slave was being subjected to violence or abuse. She also keeps a close eye on the slave’s psychological state. Female submissives tend to be mentally fragile, by nature. An odalisque may only drink wine from her Master's glass and is not permitted to drink from any other man's glass without her Master's permission. A customary manner in which a slave drinks from her Master's glass is as follows:

The slave drops to her knees, sits back on her heels, lifts her face, her hands crossed at the wrists behind her back (as if bound in slave bracelets). She waits until her Keeper feeds the drink to her lips and endeavors to drink without haste or noise and without spilling a drop.


One of the points of etiquette in Code d’ Odalisque is that an odalisque is not to drink wine of her own accord; it is fed to her by her Master. An odalisque has many rights and privileges not enjoyed by low slaves (memlooks), but she is not allowed to drink wine from her own glass. Among her duties are those of “wine attendant” – she is a naked wine attendant to her Master and his guests on “wine nights”. But she is not given her own glass of wine to drink. Rather, she sips from her Master’s glass as he wills.

This means that an odalisque is not permitted the right to control her own consumption of alcohol. It is controlled by her Master. As he wills, a Slavemaster will offer his glass to his slave – she will sip from it as he commands. The Code includes a description of the proper manner in which a well-trained odalisque will do this.

Like the wearing of shoes, the right to have her own glass of wine is a privilege only accorded to freewomen; an odalisque is fed wine by her Master.

(Note that under Code d’ Odalisque “wine” is a generic term. It may mean other alcoholic beverages, or other recreational substances, according to the preferences of the players.)

The codifications of Code d’ Odalisque are quite detailed. This is because as well as defining the odalisque and setting out her rights and obligations, the Code also sets out to create a “Code culture” featuring many aspects of historical odalisque slavery. For example, the Code describes the Slavekeeper’s play room, his saray, and establishes points of etiquette designed to create a sumptuous, civilized and luxurious style of sexual slave play. The Code also describes two venues or occasions for slave play: the wine night and the bath.

It is a matter of common experience that there is no real hard and fast dividing line between pleasure and pain. While we think of pleasure and pain as opposites, often they seem to complement each other, or are interchangeable. Pleasures can be excruciating, pain can be delicious. But pleasure/pain responses in individuals differ markedly. There are some people who need pain to feel pleasure. There are others for whom any sort of pain kills all sensations of pleasure. People are wired differently. There is no across the board “norm”.

Such pursuits should not distract the slave from her primary duty – she is a cockslave – but in practice odalisques have a large amount of spare time. An Aptitude Test (Needs Assessment)

Thus, the slave may beg three times. If her Master remains uninterested after the third time she thanks him and desists. Her duties only consist of displaying her beauty and servicing her Master’s bed. In keeping with this limited and specific role she is kept “essentially naked”.

This means that her Master may provide her with some clothing – for warmth and to enhance her beauty - but he should be careful not to dress her like a work slave. And since she is kept naked, her nakedness becomes her leash. Her Master controls her clothing and in this way controls her. Thus, most obviously, if she is kept naked then she cannot leave the house at will. She is naked and barefooted and has no access to clothing.

This is an implicit restriction upon her movements. Keeping her naked is a way of keeping her captive. There is therefore no need for a collar and leash. The collar and leash are symbols of the low slave (memlook). The odalisque enjoys freedom from collar and leash – she is kept naked instead. This is a fundamental aspect of odalisque slavery as distinct from other styles of female submissive Master/slave play. If you own an odalisque, she is kept naked. She is not a work slave. Large Ladies



Question: "Do odalisques have to be beautiful? All the women in your pictures are young and slim. I'm not. But I would love to be an odalisque. Is there any place for plain women, older women or large ladies?"

Code d' Odalisque does not express any preference for any type of female body. All types can be beautiful, and it is her submission and her devotion and her willingness to serve that makes an odalisque beautiful. Large women, as well as slim women, big or petite - any woman can be an odalisque provided she has the aptitude and disposition.

You will find that among men there are a wide range of tastes. Some men prefer large ladies even though the fashion industry promotes slim ones. Any mature gentleman will understand that women in real life are not like women in magazines. Do not feel that you would be left unowned. Odalisques are rare. Slavekeepers cannot be too fussy and expect them to be supermodels.

People speak of the "slave heart" - that someone has a slave's heart. That is what matters. Women should not feel that they are excluded from serving as odalisques just because they are no longer young and slim. The desire to serve is what matters and if that is sincere then men will see your beauty.

Submissive females often have low self-esteem and a poor body image. That is part of their submissive personality. They should not think "I am too ugly to be an odalisque." The urge to serve is what is crucial. They should follow that urge and let the gentlemen who are put over them be judges of their beauty. And part of the training of an odalisque is teaching her how to be beautiful. Any woman can be beautiful.

If a woman has a genuine urge to serve as an odalisque, her age and body shape and size do not matter.

Shunned forms of play

Code d’ Odalisque is a non-violent system of cockslave role play. It draws upon particular historical traditions and favors a particular sexual aesthetic. This is opulent, sensual, indulgent, decadent. Odalisque slavery, by its very nature, is sexual: it is a platform for sexual adventure. This is the whole reason a man would own an odalisque; in order to facilitate explorations of sexual fantasy and the uninhibited pursuit of transcending pleasures. It promotes an elegant debauchery, but debauchery all the same. No matter how it might be dressed up, and within whatever framework of manners and etiquette, the core activity in odalisque slave play is sex. Hardcore, decadent sex. In this, a Slavekeeper can resort to all manner of activities and deploy all manner of sex-aids and fantasy scenes being as decadently creative as he is able. The reason he has purchased an odalisque is to use her in his debauched indulgences.

The limits of this are set by their contractual arrangements, the limits specified by the slave in her Contract of Submission, and those set by the Code. An odalisque cannot be misused. She cannot be treated as a common whore, for instance. Neither is she a pain slave. She is protected from sado-masochism. More generally, certain types of play are avoided. The following types of BDSM play are not usually a feature of Code Culture:

• hard pain
• nipple-torture,
• whipping
• electroprodding,
• verbal abuse,
• degradation,
• public exhibitionism or humiliation,
• golden showers
• cross-dressing,
• extreme insertions,
• asphixiation-play,
• rape scenes,
• fisting,
• scat play,
• catfighting,
• whoreplay,
• slutplay
• french maid scenes
• dungeon scenes

or forms of extreme, reckless, dangerous or unusual play that is in any way at odds with the odalisque’s intrinsic role as a luxury pleasure slave and sexual servant. These shunned forms of play are those in which the odalisque would be treated as something less than an odalisque. The Code always works to create a context of fantasy and refinement and to prevent eroticism being confused with brutality. The slave is not a whipping bag. The slave is not an animal. The slave is not a toilet. And the slave is not a whore or a slut or a low slave (memlook) or a housemaid or worker. The Code always insists that an odalisque is treated as an odalisque, and that she is given due respect as an odalisque, and that this is a high and honorable calling. Accordingly, an odalisque should be treasured and protected from abuse. She should be enjoyed, by all means! But she is kept away from types of sexual play that are unbefitting.

Too much emphasis should not be placed upon such restrictions. The emphasis should be upon creative sex, not upon ‘Thou shalt nots’. The aim is not to stifle play. And there is always room for players to adapt Code d’ Ode to their own tastes. Some couples really enjoy golden showers, for example. Or spanking. In such cases the Code can be adapted as long as this is by consent and the character of the odalisque is preserved. By default, though, certain types of play – especially sado-masochism – are taboo. The odalisque should not be submitted to these types of play. She should be enjoyed at length, but not in these ways.

Slave auctions



Code d’ Odalisque includes provisions for slave auctions. Auctions are part of the romance of the odalisque tradition. In practice, these function in a very similar manner to the fun “stud” auctions that wealthy socialites sometimes hold. On these occasions, a variety of handsome “studs” are paraded before a roomful of female socialites who make bids on the male meat. The highest bidder wins a date with the man. All money goes to charity. These are fun charity auctions.

Similarly, auctions in Code d’ Odalisque are held for charity purposes. The object of the auction is to raise money for an appropriate charity. The auction functions much the same as the socialite beefcake events except that the object up for auction is a female sexual servant, an odalisque, and the bidders are gentlemen. A group of gentlemen – Slavekeepers and others – meet and bid on a parade of cockslaves. All money raised goes to charity. Any exchange of money between players would be illegal or would at least constitute prostitution. No money changes hands between players. All money is channeled into an appropriate charity such as campaigns against forced prostitution and the child sex trade. Code d’ Odalisque includes a complete simulated slave economy. This economy is directed to almsgiving. The opulence and indulgence of odalisque slavery is balanced by a spirit of charity. The auction rules and codifications included in Code d’ Ode are part of this slave economy.

Almsgiving is an important dimension of Code d’ Ode. It is not a gimmick. It is integral to the entire Code in theory and in practice. Where there is a community of Slavekeepers and other players, they should endeavor to raise money for appropriate charities; holding a slave auction is a great way to do this. Slavemasters can put their slaves up for auction. Slaves are auctioned to the highest bidder. The odalisque then serves the highest bidder who is then her Guestmaster or Guest Keeper for a specified length of time. The Code stipulates:

28.5 - Temporary Enjoyment Only to be Auctioned

The matter to be put for auction shall be the temporary enjoyment of an odalisque in the manner of Guest Keeper, for a defined period not exceeding seven days. The ownership of an odalisque shall not be placed up for auction.


The Code provides very definite and careful rules about the conduct of auctions, always with a view to maintaining high standards of consent, safety and legality. This includes a specific provision requiring explicit consent from any odalisque involved:

28. 3. - Specific Consent Required

An odalisque must give specific consent to be placed up for auction and cannot be required to participate in an auction against her will. The Controller of the auction must be satisfied that all odalisques who are being auctioned are doing so with full consent.


Obviously, a slave in a monogamous Master/slave relationship will not be involved in an auction, but with slaves who are shared by their Masters with other gentlemen auctions afford opportunities for sexual adventures.

And it includes such checks and balances as the Slavekeepers right to veto certain bidders.

28. 10 - A Keeper may veto certain Bidders

A Keeper who places an odalisque up for auction may specify that certain participants in the auction shall not be permitted to bid for his odalisque.


As always, auctions should be creative erotic events. Code d’ Odalisque is a framework for erotic creativity. Slaves can be paraded, inspected, asked to demonstrate their skills, and so on. By this means gentlemen can enjoy the visual delights of various slaves and “purchase” the temporary rights to the enjoyment of the slave’s mool.

Note that for legal reasons, all bidding in a slave auction should be done in “kurush” – the fictitious currency used in Code play. If you were to bid in dollars – even if no money is exchanged between players – you might be liable to legal sanction in certain jurisdictions. Best to be safe and to keep well within the law. When the early drafts of Code d’ Ode were being made legal experts were consulted on various issues. They strongly advised that the Code include its own fictitious currency and avoid all use of legal tender in consensual slave contexts. A slave auction is, of course, a game. An erotic game. It is important to not use real money so that the character of the game is not compromised. Then, after the auction, payment takes the form of voluntary donations to charity commensurate with the "kurush" bid.

The Nape of the Neck - Vulnerability



Like any system of (hetero) fetishism Code d’ Odalisque draws erotic attention to certain parts of the female form. An odalisque is barefooted, for example – accordingly odalisque slave play has a distinct theme of foot fetishism. The slave’s feet are admired and considered objects of beauty.

Another part of the female body considered erotic is the nape of the neck. It is specifically emblematic of female submission. It is a place of vulnerability. It is characteristic of odalisque play for the slave to tie up or throw forward her hair in order to expose the nape of her neck. This gesture accompanies sword-play themes in Code d’ Ode. The slave lives “under the sword”. Exposing the nape of her neck is an implicit gesture of placing herself “under the sword”. She lives under the (symbolic) threat of beheading.

In other systems of consensual slavery the slave’s neck is fitted with a collar. The slave is collared and held on a leash, with the whip as the symbol of authority. An odalisque is a special type of slave. She does not wear a collar and her nakedness is her leash. But her neck is still a point of passive vulnerability. The back of her neck, exposed, offered to her Master, signifies her submission and her willingness to serve “under the sword”. For these reasons a slave’s nape is regarded as erotic and lovely.

17.3. - Decor

An odalisque shall be trained to stand to the position called "Decor" or "First Position" or sometimes just "First". This is the basic standing position. An odalisque shall stand upright and does not slouch. The slave is standing in a relaxed way. The feet are not in a level military position. The heel of one foot nestles into or near the arch of the other, as is comfortable. The slave may move her weight to either foot. The arms hang naturally, the hands folded right over left over the pubic region. Head and eyes are slightly lowered. It is a demur, modest position. The command for this position is a single hand-clap.

Vow of Devotion

5.9. - Vow of Devotion

Once she is bound and washed an odalisque is required to make a Vow of Devotion under threat of the sword. She shall be held forcibly, made to kneel and forced to expose the back of her neck to a sword wielded by whatever man is officiating. The position of kneeling, head forward and down and with the back of the neck exposed is the essential physical pose illustrating the cockslave's submission.


When a freewoman consents to enter life as an odalisque she makes a Vow of Devotion. This is usually done “under the sword”. The woman is naked on her hands and knees, her hair thrown forward, head down, the nape of her neck exposed. The Slavetrader (or the man presiding) places the cold steel of his sword on the back of her neck in an implicit threat of beheading. In this position he makes her give her Vow of Devotion. This consists of a series of assertions. The Trader says to her:

“Say: I am a cock slave!”

In response the woman says, “I am a cockslave”

The Trader says:

“Say: I am a cunt to be fucked!”

In response the woman says, “I am a cunt to be fucked!”

And so on.

Code d’ Odalisque includes a generic Vow of Devotion that can be used, but players should feel free to write their own Vow and to make it a creative feature of the woman’s initiation into the odalisque’s life.

These same Vows can also be included in later sessions of training or play. From time to time it is advisable to make a slave repeat her Vow of Devotion. It will remind her of her initiation (discalcing).

The intention of the Vow, it should be noted, is to dedicate the woman to cockworship – for this is what defines an odalisque and what sets her apart from other slaves. An odalisque is dedicated to serving male sexuality, and specifically phallic sexuality. She makes a vow to serve and worship cock. That is, she swears to be a sexual slave, serving male (phallic) sex, a cockslave. This is what makes her an odalisque. An odalisque is sworn to cockworship, and she does this through her Vow of Devotion. Article 5.11 of the Code explains:

5.11. - Intent of the Vow of Devotion

The intent and purpose of the odalisque's Vow of Devotion is to pledge herself to Cock Worship and devotion and service to the Phallus and to obedience to the men who are placed over her. It is the Vow of Devotion, above all, that makes her a sexual slave as distinct from any other type of slave.
